Flee from Jezebel
1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
Jezebel was the daughter of the priest-king Ethbaal King of zidonians. After her union in marriage with King Ahab she persuaded him to introduce the worship of the god Baal, a nature god. A woman of fierce energy, she tried to destroy those who opposed her; most of the prophets of Yahweh were killed at her command.
These cruel and despotic actions provoked the righteous wrath of Elijah; according to 1 Kings 17, he accurately prophesied the onset of a severe drought as divine retribution. Sometime later Elijah had the Baal priests slain, after they lost a contest with him to see which god would heed prayers to ignite a bull offering, Baal or Yahweh. When Jezebel heard of the slaughter, she angrily swore to have Elijah killed, forcing him to flee for his life.
Who would have thought that a prophet who commands fire from heaven will flee from the threat of a woman?, who would have imagined that a whole Elijah full of power and grace of God who commands fire on one hundred and two soldiers will rather choose to fall back from Jezebel?
Prophet Elijah acted wisely by fleeing from an evil woman, because it was not the right time for her to die. His ministry, power and stand in God will only be shattered if he should embrace a contest with her.
An angel rather appeared to him, for a message that, there is still more journey to embark upon rather than engaging Jezebel the prostitute.
Prophet Elijah didn't thought of showing how great the power of God is, else he would have been slaughtered like the others... There is time for everything.
As a believer in Christ, full of power and grace of God, always have the understanding that there is time for everything.
You may be spitting fire and command dominions to bow at your feet, but to your power and engraved fire, add wisdom and direction of God.
Jesus was full of grace and power from childhood but Joseph was instructed to take him away to Egypt... Because the time of his appearing is not near.
Don't be too confident in what you have received from God, always ask for wisdom, when to shut your mouth, when to run for your life, and when to react to burning issues.. John the baptist got himself captured and slaughtered for fun, because he couldn't restrain himself.
Today, some Jezebel are some temptations that present themselves innocently, because of your supposed level of power in the spirit realm you say it does matter... But gradually you are romancing a devil. It won't take long till you are wounded without remedy.
Some Jezebel are lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life , no one can correct you, you take no one's opinion, only confident in yourself because of the manifestation of the gift of the spirit in you. It won't be too far before you realized you have falling into the Web of the devil.
Ecclesiastes 10:10 If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.
Get acquainted with God in seeking direction for everyday life, being full of the power of God without direction and patience will make you fall like a prey in the hands of Jezebels. Samson was a lesson.
