I have no One

John  5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. There was a man at the pool of Bethesda who was an impotent man for almost thirty eight years, he has suffered being impotent  for not having anyone to carry him into the pool once an angel come to stair the water. He was surrounded by people yet no one could help, he was once a temple worshipper yet no one in the church was able to devote their time to help this man into the pool. Jesus was passing by, and found this man at the pool, filled with compassion and love, he approached him and asked if he wish to be made whole. John  5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? His response was in an opposite direction of Christ's question, instead of replying in the "Yes" or "No", he replied  he had no one. He was sub

Be mature in Christ

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: The birth of a new born baby is always filled with joy and happiness, it is a delight to the parent and everyone around, this is also the case with anyone who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her saviour, the host of heaven rejoices on such fellow. It is normal to be born a baby, but abnormal to remain a baby for life. After birth, the baby is expected to grow day after day, but failure to grow will cause fear and anxiety for the parents. A growing child is a delight and pleasure to behold , but the one with stunted growth is a Prayer point on his/her own.   Accepting Christ is being born again, but remaining a baby for long becomes abnormal in the kingdom, our spiritual maturity becomes stunted if we fail to feed on the the true word of God, and get acquainted with God personally through Christ instead of

Deal with your 'Ishmael'

Galatians  4:30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. Ishmael was born as a result of Abraham attempting to hurry up the plan of God and fulfil it through human effort.  Are you doing that?,  we all have our 'Ishaemel'  a good idea that was not God's idea,  can complicate your life.   You say 'But didn't God love Ishmael too?'  yes,  and He blessed him.  But God said He would only fulfil His plan through Isaac.   When you run ahead of God,  or try to replace His will with your will,  not only do you suffer,  but the people you love suffer too.   He is saying,  it is time to deal with your past,  and clean out your cupboard,   Like Ishmael and Isaac,  sometimes your miracle and your mistake can grow together under the same roof.  Things can be so bad in one area,  yet so good in another.  Today,  God may be saying to you,  'Because  of the destin

Nebuchadnezzar praises God

Daniel  4:34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest king of the Chaldean dynasty of Babylonia. He conquered Syria and Palestine and made Babylon a splendid city. He destroyed the Temple of Jerusalem and initiated the Babylonian Captivity of the Jewish population which include Daniel  Though he was a victim of his own misguided character after he was made to eat grass for seven years for giving glory to himself instead of God.  God's mercy was poured put upon the humbled long. Kings and rulers come to their senses only when they realize that God is in control of all things.  Nevertheless, King Nebuchadnezzar wouldn't have come to his senses if Daniel, God's agent of change had not stand out amo

No one knows the Hour

Matthew  24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Many years back, some self acclaimed prophets and prophetess claimed to have known the day and the hour Christ will return, and when the rapture will take place. many fell for their false prophecy,  sold their belongings, gave to the poor, many began to live a holy life that they have never lived before, many began to sleep in the temple of worship, a place they never attend for months, just for Christ to meet them prepared.  Disappointing as it is, Christ didn't come,  it was an affirmation to the words of Christ that no one knows the hour or day.  Christ, during his teachings on earth speaks of the future events that will occur in latter days, but in respect to the time he will return, no one knows, both the day or the hour of his appearing, not the angels, not even himself, but God the Father.   Despite the fact that no one knows the actual day, we are told to be at  alert a

Flee from Jezebel

1 Kings  19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. Jezebel was the daughter of the priest-king Ethbaal King of zidonians. After her union in marriage with King Ahab she persuaded him to introduce the worship of the  god Baal, a nature god. A woman of fierce energy, she tried to destroy those who opposed her; most of the prophets of Yahweh were killed at her command.  These cruel and despotic actions provoked the righteous wrath of Elijah; according to 1 Kings 17, he accurately prophesied the onset of a severe drought as divine retribution. Sometime later Elijah had the Baal priests slain, after they lost a contest with him to see which god would heed prayers to ignite a bull offering, Baal or Yahweh. When Jezebel heard of the slaughter, she angrily swore to have Elijah killed, for

The Noah of this Generation

Genesis  6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. It was a time when humanity reached the point of no return, degradation was the norm of social behaviour, and thus, society was beyond repentance and in a state of self-destruction.  God repented that he made man because man continually lives directly opposite His purpose for humanity. When man turns from the path that God intended they  should go, then God changes His relationship with man.  God was sorrowful over the creation of man because He now had to change His relationship with man to one of destruction in the flood that was to come. The product of God's love, the creation of man, had now become the target of His judgment.  However, Noah found favour with God because of his obedient faith. Of all the generation of t

The wicked prospers

Psalms 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 37:2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. While growing up I have always assume that any person that does evil will be severely punished immediately according to their evil deeds by God , especially if the evil is against a child of God. My insinuation comes from my conviction that God cares and avenge for those who truly seeks and believe in Him.  But latter on in life It seems my convictions were not actually right, and I began to question God in my solitude why the wicked will continue to prosper and the righteous live in sorrow, why will the guilty be set free and the innocent convicted?  Some patriarchs also ask this same question in their time  Job, during his affliction asked the same questions  Job 21:7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? 21:8 Their seed is established in their sight with them,

Christ; Our Burden Bearer

Isaiah  53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Through sin, man became a burden career, the burden was so great that no being can deliver man from this pain and agony. at first, the blood of the lamb was provided for the remission of our sins, yet, it could not totally wipe away man's sin and free man frome the burden of eternal damnation.  But Christ came to this world as the promise of the father out of love, to die for all our sins. His life was an expression of God's grace and mercy towards men.  Christ became our burden bearer, through the love of God, he took away our sorrow and gave us a life to live.  He carried the yoke of curse and affliction upon himself.  Genesis  3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.  3:17 And unto Adam he s

Prayer

Jeremiah  29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Prayer is an expression of one's most  inner feelings of thanksgiving to God and request for His help. It is a communication link between God an man where we speak and he responds. The necessity of prayer is to keep us  informed by the Lord concerning our affairs, prayer empower us and redefine our life towards His will, it refreshes our spirit being and keep us in check with God the Father. As much as we are expected to pray, many lack the understanding of how to pray and this has brought about lack of receiving answer to prayers. Our prayers should be to God the Father and not to any gods, or formed images, God is the Almighty, the true creator of the universe by whom all men will account to. Jesus Christ gave the example of how to pray to God the Father... Matthew  6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  6:10 Thy kingd

Don't feel Inferior

2 Corinthians  10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. Everyone is created uniquely by God in many different ways, there is no mistake in God's making and the scripture affirms that everything God created was good. Genesis  1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Meanwhile, the sin man committed brought about inferiority among men, it brought defects in the creation of God, but as a compassionate God, as he has given his only son as a sacrificial lamb to bring perfection into the life of man, no one should feel inferior again, as Christ is perfect, so are we who believes and walk according to his tracings Today, many  people suffer from some form of inferiority. Inferiority comes by comparing those things in our lives which ar

Leadership Integrity

1 Corinthians  11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.  Integrity in leaders refers to being honest, trustworthy, and reliable. Leaders with integrity act in accordance with their words (i.e. they practice what they preach) and own up to their mistakes, as opposed to hiding them, blaming their team, or making excuses. Apostle Paul admonished the believers at corinth by professing his integrity as a custodian of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a preacher he advice the believers to follow his teachings, character and behaviour, just as he is imitating Christ. He  was not bringing a new religion or believe different from that of Christ, but expressively representing Christ to all, having Christ as his source of life, hope, teaching and grace. As leader, he displayed a high sense of integrity. There were leaders of the church before him, even before the birth of Christ and during his life ministry.  He  had one time rebuked the pharisees and the Scribes on their hy

The voices you are listening to

Genesis  3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; When God created man, he created us with some senses, one of which is the sense of hearing.. This is to better our life in communication.  God was the first being to communicate to man in the garden. Whatever we listen to is capable of influencing our actions either positively or negatively. God gave man the directives never to eat the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden, but Adam  listened to the voice of his wife Eve instead of obeying God while Eve also listened to the voice the devil through the serpent. The consequences for their actions was great. Genesis  3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, T

Friends like Jonathan

1 Samuel  18:1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Jonathan was the first son of King soul who is expected to be the future king of Israel. He became friend with David after he had killed Goliahat in battle. Jonathan and David's friendship grew as their souls were knitted together in love which was latter sealed by a covenant. 1 Samuel  18:3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. Jonathan was never envious of David even seeing that he defeated Goliahat which his father couldn't. They were an example of true friendship.  Jonathan gave up his kingship for David believing that God's grace was upon David, despite his father's hatred for David, Jonathan never stop loving him even till death.  David also retreated the love back to the house of Saul after the death of Jonathan his best friend, he sought for a

Not all was Restored

John  3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Man fell short of the glory of God in the garden of Eden after disobeying the only instruction God gave, man was cursed and sent out of the beautiful garden of peace, joy and happiness.  Genesis  3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.  3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. But God in His infinity mercy made a plan for man's ultimate redemption, he gave his only begotten Son to die for mankind so that what we lost in the garden could be restored. Man was redeemed and we become hairs of God's righteousness.  But, man's forgiveness through christ death and resurrection does not totally restore all what  man lost in the garde

False Assurance

Genesis  3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. An assurance is a positive declaration intended to give confidence to someone in other to boost their courage over something. Satan came to man disguising in the body of a serpent to deceive and robb man off God's blessings in the garden of Eden. Contrary to the commands of God to Adam of never to eat of the Fruit from the tree of good and evil, of which the consequence if they eat is death, the serpent deceived and gave a false assurance that they will not surely die, but their eyes wil be opened. Genesis  3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. The assurance of life and exposure to knowledge after enjoying the pleas

Beautiful Beginning, Bitter End

2 Chronicles  19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD. King Jehoshaphat began his reign positively, The Lord was with him because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel. The Lord established the kingdom under his control.  He once led a group of singers to battle as inspired by God which gave Judah victory  Jehoshaphat is still considered a good and godly king, but his reign ended rather badly. He kept trying to build an alliance with Israel, even though the kings of Israel were obviously wicked.  Jehoshaphat worshiped the Lord and led his people in seeking the Lord, but the hearts of the people were never fully changed. They reverted to pagan practices. King Jehoshaphat was unable t

Ruth Recovered

Ruth  4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. Ruth was the daughter-in-law of Naomi, whose husband died after their father without a grand children. She was a moabite who serves other gods aside the God of Israel, her union in marriage compelled her to become a worshipper of the God of Israel. Her travail being a widow did not stop her to return with Naomi her mother in law and several pleading. She had a beautiful future lined out, luck was not on her side as sorrow became her new story. Despite the ugly experiences, she remain  unbroken, she continued steadfastly with her mother in law and hoping for a better tomorrow and eventually, God favoured her and even her  seed gave birth to King david. What are you going through that seems so difficult?, you may have a ugly past which is enough to give up on the beautiful future, you may be down with so much pain and sorrow.   Don't give up, God is righ

Light of a Lamp

Luke  8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. The purpose and nature of the lamp is to produce light for all who are in its presence. Believers in this world are the lamp that should shine in the in the darkness of this world.  The light on the lamp is the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ which provides the light of life to all the world. The gospel is His life and teaching for our living, His death for the sins of the world and  His resurrection for our hope.  As a believer carrying the light of Christ would not  hide from the darkness of this world, you are expected to shine the light wherever you find yourself, illuminating the darkness around you.  His light should reflect righteousness and holiness, living godly among men, showcasing the peace and love of God the father  through Christ Jesus the son.  But sadly today, many believers who ought to shi

The idol in your heart

Ezekiel  14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; Idolatry is the worship of someone or something other than God as though it were God. The first of the biblical Ten Commandments prohibits idolatry: “You shall have no other gods before me.”  Anything you place above God is an idole. There are many idols we struggle with and many of them creep into our lives without us even realising it. Some may be  Family, wealth, prosperity, career success, image, romance, safety and security, talents/gifts, position, fame etc.  These has brought separation between us and God even when we believed we are still in God.  In Ezekiel  14:1 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.  14:2 And the word of

The widow's Sacrifice

Mark  12:43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:  12:44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. Jesus christ supervised the treasury during a voluntary giving in the temple. in the process, a widow's offering was noticed by Christ and he  called the attention of his disciples.. Saying.. She gave her all out of her poverty... Making her to be the best giver out of those who contributed.  The materialist will never understand why this widow gave so much. Her thanksgiving for what God has done for her motivated her to give all that she had.  She had to make the sacrifice in order to pour forth her thanksgiving to God. Christianity is of little value to those who are not willing to sacrifice for their faith.  Through sacrifice comes growth. But those who are not willing to make s

The King's Spec

Esther  2:2 Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:  2:3 And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them: Kings are renowned male rulers of an independent state or nation.. In the past, they hold the highest authority by which they judge their kingdoms in truth and fairness.  Kings are honourable and so whatever they desire comes with a certain specification. Whatever that must be given to the King must be of great value without blemish.  It was a time for King Ahasuerus to choose a new bride after Queen Vashti lost her place in the palace.  Just as the custom,  the king requested for beautiful maidens,  spotless,  presentable and also who are still virgins.

Better than the will of God

2 Kings  5:12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. Naamna the leper came to prophet Elisha for healing, so the man of God instructed him to wash himself in the river jordan seven times, as this is the channel through which God would heal him.  But he refuted, became discouraged by the words of the prophet asking him to wash in a disgusting and unkept river like the river jordan, unlike the rivers of Abana and pherpar in Damascus, which are way better than any reiver in the land of Israel.  Abana and pharper are better rivers than those in Israel in that they were mountain rivers of fresh water, whereas the rivers of Israel were lowland rivers that were often filled with the runoff silt of the lowlands.  But Elisha's instructions were meant to humble Naaman. There was no ceremonial healing in the river Jordan before that time, and thus, the test that was given

Life insurance Christ

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Life insurance is a contract between you and an insurance company. Essentially, in exchange for your premium payments, the insurance company will pay a lump sum known as a death benefit to your beneficiaries after your death. Your beneficiaries can use the money for whatever purpose they choose. This earthly life insurance policy does not give extra life once the insured person is dead, in some cases the insured person has no benefit to get from the insurance policy rather it gives benefit to the families of the insured person when he/she is dead.  But there is a better life insurance policy in Christ Jesus, the insurance policy that christ brings will safeguard your life here on earth and even in the life to come... Human life insurance ends

According to His Will

1 John  5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.  5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: God has a defined method by which our prayers can be answered, he establish a principle in time past when he communicates with man without any interference, so also He does now when Christ becomes our advocate. As much as we pray in the name of Christ  does not mean our prayers and supplications will be automatically answered, many reason are not far from the methods God gave. Many prayed but without answer, they have checked through their life to examine what could be the hindrances to their prayers, they have kept the faith, they have lived above sin, they have given to the poor, and they have lived peaceably with men, yet their prayers kept hanging in the space..  Some have con

The culture of His kingdom

Colossians  2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Culture is the idea, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society, it is the way of life and codes of conduct of some certain set of people which makes them distinct to another.  The kingdom of God in Jesus Christ is a distinct kingdom, different from all other kingdoms of this world.  It was first established in the garden of Eden, full of peace, joy, happiness without death, but its code of conduct was bridged and the first occupant were cast out of the kingdom. But in his mercy and grace, the new kingdom became established, an open invitation is given to anyone who so wish to become a citizen of this kingdom of eternity of peace, No one can become a citizen without accepting Christ as Lord and personal saviour, he is the deciding factor t

Remember God

1 Chronicles  16:12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; To remember means to acknowledge, to focus on something, to consider, to take into account of the past, to keep in mind, to meditate on, to think about, or not to forget something  Remembering God is an act of putting into account of who God has been to us,, who He is, and what He demands in our life, to remember God also includes having the consciousness that God is with us, and we are obeying His words daily.  From the begining of creation God has maintain an open relationship with man, even when man sinned and was disconnected from Him, He made a way so man can be reunited, this was possible through our Lord Jesus Christ.  But in all of God's offer of unbroken relationship, man most time  forget God, forget His commands, power and judgment and this has made man to end up with a disastrous end, for many who could not make their way back to Him.  King Solomon was a kin
