Where is your heart?
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The heart of a man biologically is where life resides, which sustains the living of any person..., but consequently the heart of man has been characterized in the Bible as man's inclinations and personal will that we have in making decisions. The heart of man is the rational will coupled with the emotional desire.
This personal will defines our relationship with God, weather we are for God or we are for the devil, irrespective of who the body represent.
Where is your heart?
Considering the story of Lot... In Genesis chapter nineteen
It was a time God decided to destroy the city of Sodom and Gomarah, but out of love He commanded that Lot and his household to leave, and never to look back on their way.
But his wife looked back... "Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt", even though her body left Sodom, but heart still resides there, looking at the treasures she had accumulated... This brought about her death in the form of transforming to salt.
Where is your heart today?
Another story is that of the children of Israel, whom God had just saved from the land of Egypt, they got to the wilderness and God fed them with manner from heaven..
But they were no more satisfied with the manner God provided for them.. So they grumbled... And wept and remember Egypt... "Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:"
You can imagine, their body left Egypt, but their desire, appetite longed for Egypt.. Not even considering their liberty from slavery... And not remembering the powerful miracles God used in saving them form the hand of pharaoh...
They are rather happy to be in slavery and eat cucumbers, garlic, onions etc than being free and eat manner from heaven...
Many only followed moses for following sake, not because they truly believed God can actually save and provide for them anytime they are in need.
I ask again, where is your heart?
For you to have become a Christian, are you not just bearing name with christ, but your heart is with the devil..?
Are you not remembering the enjoyment of sin which the Lord had saved you from, even though your body is with Christ?
The children of Israel erected a golden calf, and calls it god that saved them from Egypt... They have been too familiar with the tradition of Egypt and they carried that mentality out of the land.. Everyone of them that bowed to it died in the wilderness...
Is your heart with God?
Your prayers can never be answered if you traded only your body with Christ and exclude your heart.
You can never experience the full manifestation of God's power in your life if your heart is far away..
I ask again, where is your heart?
Are you also looking back like Lot's wife?, looking at what salvation has taken away from you, are you not longing to have them again? Are your desires not attracted to those sinful life you have renounced at salvation?...
There is no profit in looking back, only destruction.. For the Bible says.. Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Imagine getting married to a woman who does not love you... You only have access to her body but not her heart... You can imagine how the marriage will be...
Where do you place your treasures?, where is your heart?
Check yourself today... Whatever priority you place ahead of God's is where your heart is. And it can never profit you.
Have a change of heart today.
