Service without Fruitfulness
Matthew 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
To be Unfruitful is failure to achieve the desired results; unproductive or useless after enjoying so much resources to be fruitful.
From our Bible text above, Jesus calls those who has identified themselves by their submission to His will in order to be His servants, the talent refers to the abilities or opportunities, that one has that he can use to the glory of God.
To every man God has given ability and opportunity and the responsibility that this abilities should be used to take advantage of opportunities for the glory of God.
In the context, the servants are the redeemed, not just those who are called to lead but everyone who has confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour
Jesus indicates that responsibility was give in variation, the talents were given according to the capability of the individual to perform in its use. Thus God expects the receivers of the abilities or opportunities to exercise use of what they can do, not what they cannot do.
Those with five and two talents were praised and commended on the basis of their faithfulness and stewardship to carry out In their lives the will of the king. If one determines to serve God, then God wil give the increase, for it is God's grace that works in our heart to bring fruit to God.
Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
What greater commendation could ever be received from God?, believers should be motivated to work for God in order to hear those words from God. It is not that one works in order to earn his salvation but that we work in response to the grace of God.
Matthew 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
A fruitless and unfaithful servant will never lack excuses, the excuse of the one talent servant insult the integrity of the master, this shows that he did not know the will and the expectations of the master. He was rejected on this basis, not because he lacked performance
The neglected use of one's gift will result in his losing everything. If one refuses to respond to God's grace, he cannot expect to receive anything as a result of his lazy ingratitude.
What about you today?, God has blessed you with so much talents, spiritual gifts and resources which are expected to be used for the kingdom of God, but you rejected the will of God and the grace He has given
Being a servant of God and a steward in the vineyard is not only limited to those who are called into offices of the pastor, prophet, apostle, teacher and the likes, being a steward is extended to everyone who has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour.
No one would say he has not received any talent from God, it was given according to the measure of your capability.
Are you a fruitful servant or a fruitless one.
Many are seen serving God, but they are fruitless, many ministers of the gospel had been seen working tirelessly for God, yet their record before Him has been fruitless.
The number of the members of your church or congregation, the number of your followers, the number of participants you pulled during crusade does not equate your fruitfulness before God.
Many are in service but they are fruitless, because they neglect the will and principle of the master(God).
Check yourself today, have a reflection of your whole life and service before God, and ask, if you are fruitful or not.
Many will loose all on that day... Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Today is the day to make a decision to be fruitful for God, so stop being lazy and ungrateful. For God will not show mercy on that day.
God bless you.
