Be Spiritually Conscious
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Becoming a believer in Christ Jesus and taking on the new life and nature, we have become rooted and established in the power and grace of God.
In spite of this, it does not mean the devil has totally given up on our lives, rather, he has just swung into action using every means to win us back from God to himself.
To be spiritually conscious is to be vigilant and watchful for treats around that nay be harmful to our spiritual life in our walk with God.
Apostle Peter in his letter to all believers scattered into several places, admonished all to be sober and be vigilant, that the devil roars like a lion, walking from one place to another, seeking a prey to feast on.
Believers in Christ must walk with maturity in the light of God's word, we must be conscious in our Christian life least we be tempted to forsake our confession in Christ Jesus
Satan has no power over those who voluntarily keeps himself close to Jesus. However, Satan roams about as a nervous lion looking for his lunch.
Those who are ignorant of his warning roars will fall victim to his hunger for the souls of men. Therefore, it is necessary that the believers in Christ Jesus learn how the devil seeks to destroy the lives of men. One must be aware of how he stalks his prey. The sober and vigilant believers is constantly listening for the roar of the hungry satan.
He can identify how satan works. However, if he becomes ignorant of God's word, or enticed by the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life, he will be ensnared by satan and consumed
The sober and vigilant christian must learn to be spiritually conscious through the following ways.
1. Give yourself to the word
The word of God is the mind of God, it is a communicating medium to every believer who wants to succeed in Christ. The word is the lamp to our feet and a light to our path as we journey through the darkness of this world.
Anyone who is ignorant of the word of God easily becomes the pray of satan the roaring lion. They are easily deceived by all forms of doctrines and teachings that resurrect from hell. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2. Have a Prayer life
A life that lacks prayer becomes prey to the satan. Prayer is giving our attention to God in a two-way spiritual relationship where we talk to God and also listen to Him. It is an avenue to be constantly inclined with Him, both in power, understanding and grace.
When we pray, we re-equip ourselves with the weaponry of God in other to fight against the craftiness, temptations and deceit of the devil.
Prayer is a continuous exercise of any believer, it must be done without ceasing. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
3. Be obedient to God's instructions
While we read the words of God, and have an altar of prayer, God in His mercy often times give instructions that are beneficial to us in other to keep us fit, at alert and conscious of the deceit of the devil.
Failure to follow the instructions of God will make us fall into the hands of the roaring lion the satan. Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.(Luke 21:36)
The devil never sleep no slumber, he work day and night so as to win over your soul unto himself.
Be vigilant, he can come in different form, he could come in form of your best friend, boss, neighbour fellow church members and even your mentor with ideas, teachings, instructions and offers that are beneficial to the body but harmful to the soul. Being rooted in God personally will make you escape all the devices of the devil.
Watch and pray, the devil will never stop hunting for your soul until you die.
