Roll away my Reproach
Psalms 69:19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
Reproach means disgrace, shame, discredit, or blame or an act of mockery meted on someone, reproach can come from anyone, it can come from family members, close and intimate friends, boss at work, neighbours, colleagues etc.
Reproach is a result of stigma, can be stigma of failure, barrenness, unproductive, sickness or infirmity which one is going through in life... People see it and ridicule the person, they mock and body shame those who are experiencing these difficulties.
But in all, God is able to roll away all reproach and give laughter and testimony to anyone who can call on His name
Jabez was a glorious child with great destiny to fulfil in this world, but the time of his birth was a time of pain, sorrow, difficulties for his mother so she called him Jabez which means "he makes sorrowful".
This sorrow accompanied his destiny and all his life becomes sorrowful, he realised at a point and called on the God of Israel and prayed.. 1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. His prayers was answered and his story changed for the better.. God rolled away his reproach.
So also Hannah, a woman who was married for years without a child, the result of this could be the reason her husband married the second wife Peninnah, and she gave birth to children.
To make matters worse, Peninnah would keep provoking her daily, since she had no child. Imagine the shame, imagine the emotional trauma, imagine the depression she encounter in the hand of her rival.
But she did called on the God of Israel one day, she expressed her bitter heart before him and prayed... 1 Samuel 1:10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 1:11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
God did answered her prayers and that same year she conceived and bear Samuel who latter become the next priest of Israel... She not only gave birth to Samuel but more children.
When we call on God with a sincere heart He listened, when we pray with faith He answers, there is nothing too big for God to do.
I don't know what you are going through today, I don't know the kind of reproach you are suffering from, maybe it is failure, debt, barrenness, fruitlessness , defeat, lack, poverty, rejection, marital delay or whatsoever. If you can call on God today, just as Jabez and Hannah did, He is a faithful God and able to roll away your reproach and give you everlasting peace of mind.
No man can help you, only God can, go before Him with a humble heart of faith, call on him, express the bitterness of your heart and ask Him to roll away your reproach. He has done it before, He can do it again and again.
Just trust Him.
God bless you.
