Rest

Matthew  11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Rest is a relief or freedom, especially from anything that wearies, troubles, or disturbs. a period or interval of inactivity, repose, solitude, or tranquillity

It is with no doubt this world is full of anxiety, troubles, worries and burden bearing which surface in different ways such as spiritually, emotionally, insecurity, financially and even psychologically.

But all man's effort to be free from this consistent burden has prove abortive, none of the solutions gotten has ever given man the perfect rest he deserve, it has been from one burden to another. The devil never stop.

Nevertheless, there is one person, through whom we can have everlasting and perfect rest from all the burdens, troubles trauma and sorrow that may fill our heart. That person is Jesus Christ.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mathew 11:28). Jesus Christ here gave a glorious invitation to everyone who has been struggling with burdens of sin, financial burden, emotional, religious and many more.

Because all authority has been given to Him, he made this invitation to all men to come to Him, His invitation is to those who live under the stress and turmoil of the world.

Those who recognizes their spiritual poverty realizes that they need grace and mercy, those who live under the oppression of religious traditions and religious emotionalism need the freedom that Jesus has to offer.

Those who are  suffering from reproach, shame, disappointment, the bondage of sin, the oppression from the devil and sickness needs this invitation Jesus offers freely.  With Him there is surely rest.

One finds peace in realising thet his sins are forgiven by the grace of God. One finds peace of mind when understanding that God has loved us and delivered us from our sin through the cross of Christ.

In Christ we can cast all anxiety upon God who cares for our emotional and spiritual well-being.

Jesus lifted burdens.

1. The lame at the pool of Bethesda

Jesus was passing and noticed a man who had been carrying a burden of being cripple for almost thirty-eight years, He has no place to go, no man to help, he has been limited to a place, His destiny had been tied to just a place. But when Jesus came, his burden was lifted and the Lord gave him rest for the rest of his life. (John 5:1-17)

2. He gave rest to a prostitute

There was a woman found in adultery with a man, according to the law, she should be stoned to death. She came about Jesus Christ and ran to Him, she was carrying the burden of death as a result of sin, but Christ being merciful discharge and acquitted from the verdict of death pronounced on her.(John 8:7)

I don't know the burden you are carrying today, it may be the burden of sin, of finances, family, debt, barrenness, delay in marriage, failure, insecurity etc, Christ is calling you today in other to give your soul rest. Even the burden you cannot tell the person you trust the most, tell it to Jesus

Matthew  11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The rest He gives is not the one the world can give, neither is it the devil can give. God will give you rest both now and eternally, only if you accept His invitation now.

Burdens are lifted at calvary, free yourself from all burdens and come to Christ today.

God bless you.
