Benefits of quiet Time
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Quiet time is a heart-to-heart time, or one-on-one time with the creator, it is a regular individual session of spiritual activities, such as prayer, private meditation, contemplation, worship of God or study of the word of God.
Quiet time is an important part of a believer's daily life, this is when he goes to a comfortable and or secluded place in either his own home or mountains, where he can draw close to God with no distractions. It should be a place where there are no interruptions from TV, telephone, family member interactions or noises.
A quiet time is a set-aside part of each day for a meeting between a believer and God. It consists of reading a part of the Bible of the believer’s own choosing, and praying.
Every believer needs a quiet time with the Lord. Jesus Christ Himself was not left out in going to a secluded place to have a quiet time with the father, if He did, how much more do we?
Jesus frequently moved away from the others in order to commune with His Father regularly, the following Scriptures testify to this: “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, ‘Sit here while I go over there and pray’” (Matthew 26:36). “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35). “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16).
BENEFITS OF HAVING A QUIET TIME?
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
When we depart to a lonely place for the purpose of meditation in the word and fellowship with the father, we enjoy the following benefits
1. GOD reveals himself
Exodus 19:20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
Moses had went up to mount Sinai to have a personal communion with God, there he met God and he receives the ten commandment. The law was given together with directions on how to deal with the people.
When we depart for a quiet time and meditate in His words and pray, God will reveal His will to us and give us directions for our life.
2. We receive Peace
Having a quiet time with God makes you focus your attention on God , rather than your problems. No matter how troubled your heart may be, or how uncertain about life issues you might feel, when you depart for a quiet time, the peace of God will fills your heart.
(Php 4:7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(Col 3:15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
3. Joy
When we have a quiet time with the Lord and we have the conciseness of His presence, our heart will be filled with the unending joy of the Lord because in His presence there is fullness of joy, this is Because the source of our strength becomes Christ rather than our circumstances.
(1Pe 1:8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
4. Prosperity in all ways.
When we incline our heart with the will of God during our quiet time, we have the assurance and confidence of prospering in whatever we lay our hands on.
The Lord appeared unto Joshua after the death of moses and gave him the key to prosperity... Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua did follow, kept meditating for whole of his life and God made him prosper in all his ways and gave him good success. This happens via his personal communion with the father.
5. Direction
During our quiet time, we receive directions for the journey of our life, both in marital life, career, and ministry among others. Spending time with Him enables Him to give you direction when you need it. (Prov. 3:5-6)
6. Power
In our quiet time we receive refilling of His power to manifest His goodness and grace in the world through the filling of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18).
Do you have a quiet time with the Lord?, The length of the quiet time does not matter, but it should be enough time to meditate on what was read and then pray about it or anything else that comes to mind.
Drawing near to God is a rewarding experience, and once a regular habit of quiet time is created, a specific time for study and prayer is eagerly looked forward to.
