Consequence of Envying

Genesis  4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Envying is a feeling of resentful discontent, begrudging admiration, or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, possessions, or attainments; desire for something possessed by another.

Envy is a sin of jealousy over the blessings and achievements and accumulated wealth of others, this could be material wealth or the jealousy of spiritual gifts of others.

Cain and abel were both instructed to make sacrifice unto God, Abel's sacrifice was accepted while that of Cain was rejected. He became jealous and envied his brother's accepted  sacrifice while his was rejected.

His envy leads to jealousy, jealousy leads to anger, anger leads to evil thoughts and evil thoughts leads to murder. This made him become the first murderer on earth and a wonderer for the rest of his life.

Envy is a sin that comes with great consequences, some of which are

1. Envy blindfolds you from seeing the greatness in yourself.

Anyone that envy another will always see himself/herself as inferior to the  other, you will always think you can not measure up to the level of the person you envy. Consequently you neglect your own path to success and greatness. thereby following the path of those you envy which in latter times result to your perpetual failure...

God didn’t make you to be like somebody else. God made you to be you.  David said  Psalms  139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.   Do you know this too?, if you know this, you won't envy another.

2. Envy will take away your attention from God and yourself.

While God is planing your own greatness in a manner that He seeks your full attention, you are busy envying another,  you do not have time for  yourself, the time you need to build up yourself, get busy with how your life will be better both spiritually and otherwise.. These precious time you have invested in trying to be like  someone else.

You cannot follow God’s purpose and focus on other people at the same time. You get a divided allegiance, and then you don’t get anything done in your life.

3. Envy makes you an ingrate before God.

Envying another person makes you conclude God is wicked to you, it makes you think and believe God has not been fair to you, whereas His plans are always good and not of evil, to give you an expected end of greatness and prosperity.

4. Envy leads to every other sin.

Envy can destroy everything and everyone around you. The Bible says, “Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder (unrest, rebellion) and every evil thing” (James 3:16).

At the heart of the problem is a problem of the heart. Envy is a heart problem.

"Rick Warren" says : Any time you envy you have gotten your worship misguided because envy is a form of worship. It says, “I desire that. I want that. I love that. I want to live for that.” That’s called worship. And any time that item is not God, it becomes an idol.

Cain envied Abel, it leads to anger, then murder, so also is anyone that envy envy another can do anything to get whatever they desire in their heart irrespective of the evil ways it may take.

Today, it is envy that lead many youth into Internet fraudsters, they want money, they want to ride the latest car, they want to live an exorbitant life, yet they don't want to wait for their time.

Envy led many young girls into prostitution, many went for light skin mixtures, body surgery in other to be in a shape like their friends, they want to live a trendy life... This has led many to become murders, and fetish. They do not care what it will take.

Many died in the quest of trying to be like other person, many are living to regret their actions.

Envy is a cancer of the soul,  it destroy the whole body and can still deliver the spirit to hell.

Repent today and come back to God, appreciate who God has made you to be, be yourself and become the best God has made  you to be, trust the process and never copy others.

Trying to be who you are not is a murder of destiny. You are the only you in existence, appreciate yourself.

Kill that spirit of envy before it kills you. Repent today so as not to meet your end suddenly.

God bless you.
