The Fear of God
Day 2: The best remedy against the fear of man
Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Yesterday we started a series on the fear of God, and through yesterday's teaching we were made to understand that the Fear of God is to be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him complete reverence and to honour Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power
By this we have a spirit bond with Him in relationship, and His presence is brought into existence in our life while our total being begins to radiate God's glory.
The fear of God instill in us the courage to face any fear that may come our our way, He who tremble before God can never be Intimidated by the ranting of man.
The fear of God is the best remedy against the fear of man
There is no doubt many people struggle with the fear of man today, due to their accumulated power and their evil deeds. Many fear men because of the imbalance in belief.
Many workers are afraid of their boss, many followers are afraid of their leaders, because they wouldn't want to get them offended and they have the understanding of the evil they can do.
Many believers today are afraid of men and finds it difficult to fully identify with Christ, For most of us, our fear of man is rooted in a craving for the approval of others over the approval of God
But the word of God says in Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Man can only destroy the body but God who has all power and of whom alone to fear can destroy both the body and soul.
God has given us the assurance in His word that surely men will fight against us, because of our belief in Him, because of the Gospel we carry, because of the truth we hold and profess, but He said they shall not prevail over us "Jeremiah 1:19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee"
King David was a good example of a man who trusted and feared God with whole of his heart right from childhood, He stood against the terror philistine Goliahat in battle, with no weapon, but with God of war, He prevailed, He understood the fact that when man feared God, His battle becomes God's battle, his enemy becomes God's enemy. No wonder he said in Psalms 118:6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
What about the three hebrews in the book of Daniel, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego, they stood against the fearful King Nebuchadnezzar, they were not afraid of the furry furnace set by man, because they believe the God they serve is a consuming fire, and they have already been consumed by it. The confidence in them humbled the ranting king at the end.
The fear of God will always give you the confidence against the fear and ranting of men.
Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
When you fear the Lord, and your ways become perfect before Him, your enemies will have no other choice than to live in peace with you, there won't be fear of attack, anxiety, distress and insecurity.
This is what Fearing the Lord can do.
You put yourself in perpetual slavery of the fear of man because you do not know the freedom that comes from Fearing God.
Save yourself the struggle of life and free yourself from the bondage of the fear of man by Fearing God today. This is possible by doing His will and walking perfectly before Him.
One with God is greater than many
The fear of God is the best remedy against the fear of man
