Charity

2 Corinthians  9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Charity is the act of giving help to those in need of it. It is a humanitarian act. It involves giving money, goods or time and effort to those who need it. It is done without expecting something in return. Giving money or food to poor people is an example of charity. Charity is not a business investment that is done in expectation of profit or gain, it is not done to receive the praise of man, it is done from the depth of one's heart without expecting any return.  Charity is one of the fruit of the spirit that Every believer most possess, it is the highest form of love, signifying the reciprocal love between God and man that is made manifest in unselfish love of one’s fellow men.  It is not only in giving money, it involves giving of goods and services like prayer intercession, volunteering, counselling etc It is an act that registers

Fulfill your Vow

Ecclesiastes  5:4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.  5:5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. A vow is a solemn promise or oath to do something, this could be paid either in finances, services, prayer or worship. Vows to God  most time provoke His attention and quicken Him to answer a request if it is made with a broken heart.  When one made a vow before God, it was a self-imposed law that must be kept. If you do not keep the vow, you have sinned against God, for you have made promise to God and fail to keep it.  It is good to make vow(promise) before God because doing so one sets spiritual goal for himself in order to bring glory to God. Making vows should come from the heart and never from the persistent pressure from someone or men of God, as much as God quickens to answer prayers through vow, so also is His wrath heavy on those thay default because yo

The Fear of God

Day 2: The  best remedy against the fear of man Proverbs  16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Yesterday we started a series on the fear of God, and through yesterday's teaching we were made to understand that the Fear of God is to be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him complete reverence and to honour Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power  By this we have a spirit bond with Him in relationship, and His presence is brought into existence in our life while  our total being begins to radiate God's glory.  The fear of God instill in us the courage to face any fear that may come our our way, He who tremble before God can never be Intimidated by the ranting of man. The fear of God is the best remedy against the fear of man There is no doubt many people struggle with the fear of man today, due to their accumulated power and their evil deeds. Many fear men because  of the imbalance in belief.  Many

The fear of God

Day 1:  The begining of Wisdom Proverbs  9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Fearing the Lord means to be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him complete reverence and to honor Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power On of the major commands in the old testament is the command to fear the Lord, this has been passed from generation to generations, even after the children of Israel were brought out of Egypt, Moses reminded them of the essence of fearing the Lord. Deuteronomy  6:24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. The fear of the Lord unlocks the store house of spiritual wisdom, our spiritual Understanding begins when we walk with God with fear and reverence for Him. There are elements of the fear of God. 1. Obedience The first element of Fearing God is to obey all His comma

Praise, an Antidote to Distress

Philippians  4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Praise is the expression of gratitude and respect towards God, this is a process of rendering God's pedigree, accounting how great and mighty He is, telling of the battles He has worn, the ones He is winning and those He will still win, exulting Him above all.  Praise brings God into the scene. Praise opens the gates of Heaven and the doors of blessings. Praise dissipates worry and dilutes concern and fear. Praise tarnishes sadness and magnifies goodness. There are times difficult situation will visit us, a time of distress and sorrow, delay shame and reproach. You may have prayed, instead of getting better it became worse, your soul is vexed, you have tried all you could as human and you feel like given up on God.   But have you tried praise?  Praise is an antidote to distress in any situation we may find ourselves, it is a sure and effective  pain killer, it's a proved working medicine for the sickness of t

You are a Signpost

2 Corinthians 5:20  Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. A signpost is a sign by the road side that bears information which gives direction to a destination for passersby. It leads a traveller to the right direction.  As believers we are signpost, bearing the information of Christ that guides people towards their journey to the perfect destination of God's kingdom.  God has placed us in this world as a channel through which others will know Christ who is the only way to Him. We are to showcase the love of God evidence in Christ, His will and eternal home He has prepared for us. The disciples at antioch were best described as the signpost to Christ, they saw in them the full picture and person of Christ, so they are named Christians for their character, behaviour and relationships with fellow humans which points to Christ while Christ points to God. As a signpost in this world, who a

Rest

Matthew  11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Rest is a relief or freedom, especially from anything that wearies, troubles, or disturbs. a period or interval of inactivity, repose, solitude, or tranquillity It is with no doubt this world is full of anxiety, troubles, worries and burden bearing which surface in different ways such as spiritually, emotionally, insecurity, financially and even psychologically.  But all man's effort to be free from this consistent burden has prove abortive, none of the solutions gotten has ever given man the perfect rest he deserve, it has been from one burden to another. The devil never stop.  Nevertheless, there is one person, through whom we can have everlasting and perfect rest from all the burdens, troubles trauma and sorrow that may fill our heart. That person is Jesus Christ.  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mathew 11:28). Jesus Christ here gave a g

Chastisement

 Deuteronomy  8:5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.  Chastisement is the act of correction  by punishment or suffering, the discipline given to man If he commit iniquity or sin against the laws of God.  Our God is a perfect God and also full of love, he has laws to guide and protect us through our journey in life, but as much as He is full of mercy and grace, He does not condone iniquity, so He chastise anyone who go against His laws and commands.  And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him. For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” (Hebrew 12:5-6).  God does not chastise sinners who has not known him from the begining, but  as the father chastise his son who does wrong things, so also God chastise His children he loves,  God did chastise Adam and

Renew thy youth like the Eagles:{Psalms 103:5}

Day2 : Work with the strength of your Youth Proverbs  20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head. We began this series yesterday, renewing our youth like the Eagle by remembering our creator in the days of our youth. Today we will be looking  at working with the strength of our youth.. As we know already that the  youthful age is the most captivating time of a human being, where one have the greatest strength to work and make things happen, a time to invest, a time to plan for days to come, a full of great ideas to build, creat and be useful, both physically and spiritually. But it is so sad today that many youth are wasting away their youthful years in slothfulness, laziness and idleness. Many want blessing without working, they want harvest without planting, they want miracles, signs and wonders without fasting and praying. But little did they know that the years of grey head comes shortly they shall regret of not making  use of th

Renew your youth like the Eagle {Psalms 103:5}

Day1:  Remember now thy creator Ecclesiastes  12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; The youth age is considered the most interesting, vibrant, vigorous, versatile and active period in one’s life. It is the age of strength, in which knowledge is acquired, experience is gained, and the age that prepares one for middle age activities. The youthful age is the most captivating time of a human being. Little wonder, it is referred to as the prime or spring of life! Because at this phase is when the future is determined. (the Guardian)  Nevertheless, this is the time the devil tries to capture the mind many youth, in other to ruin their life, both physically and spiritually. The devil present so many pleasant but deadly offers which are compelling to the body and soul but in latter time drags the soul to hell.  But If one builds a spiritual life from the days of his youth,

At thy Word

Luke  5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. The word of God is life and at It's utterance the world was formed and made,  it is so powerful that it can command both life and death. The world has never been void of God's word, even after man sin, God consistently  minister  to His people in different dimension and with different messengers Jesus Christ being the word of God came to this world in human form to perfect our salvation in other to reunite us back to the Father. At  the begining of His ministry, in a bid to choose His disciples, those who will carry on the Gospel to all the ends of the earth, He came across Simon Peter  by the river bank in the morning. Simon Peter had toiled through the night in other to catch fishes, but all his efforts and his colleagues came to nothing as they could not catch any. Jesus Christ came and beckoned on him to have Him

Spiritual Checkup

 2 Corinthians  13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? Some years back my mom decided to go for medical checkup, when asked, she said she just felt like she should. So she went to the hospital to be examined. Upon all the test did on her, the doctor adviced she should be admitted for some days in other to correct some things in her body system and have a good time  rest.  But, before she went to the hospital everyone believes nothing was wrong with her, physically she  is very fit, she even went to the hospital all by her self.  To the best of my knowledge, she has never been admitted nor sick before,  but only the doctor could confirm she needed rest and few medications. Believe me, she spent almost two weeks on bed rest. Her health issues was detected on time before it became serious and was corrected accordingly.  In like manner, we also must constantly go for

Treasure without Christ

Ecclesiastes  12:8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity. treasures are  wealth or riches stored or accumulated, especially in the form of precious metals, money, jewels, or plate. · wealth, rich materials, or valuable ... Treasures to man can serve as a means of survival in this world, it can guarantee source of livelihood.  Many has layed up treasures of gold, landed properties, jewels and diamonds, these treasures were secretly kept for the time of its use.  Wherever one's treasures is, there will be one's desire and heart... Matthew  6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also., this in turn does not guarantee safety, peace of mind and neither can it guarantee life now or after death.  Laying up treasures is not a sin, but if Jesus Christ is not included is vanity upon vanity.  Treasures of this world is prone to destruction and thieves, it does not give life, it can only sustain life for a little while, it does not guarantee immortality o

A better Tomorrow

Proverbs  23:18 For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. Life can be cruel and things may not go as planned, sometimes, life has never be as we projected, there may be difficulties, delay and disappointment, there may be rejection and demotion, all is still in the today and not tomorrow  Whatever you are today is not what you will be in the  tomorrow, today always end in darkness but tomorrow always come with a shining bright light. The life of Mephibosheth was a definition of a better tomorrow, He was rejected and forsaken, to the look of man there is no hope anywhere for him, to make matter worse he is a crippled young man who cannot even stand to make his own life better. He  came from a wealthy family being the son of Jonathan a onetime Prince of Israel and grandson to Saul, onetime king of Israel, but that does not influence his life in anyway better. Neither his father nor his grandfather left anything for him in their will for him to survive on. He

Say no to wayward lifestyle

Jeremiah 3:22 Come back to me, you wayward people. I want to cure your waywardness. To be wayward is to turn away from what is right or proper; it is a willful disobedient. As much as God created us in his own likeness, He never denied us the ability to do whatever we desire to do. But In love He gave us laws that will guide our lives in the path of His righteousness. Nevertheless, this ability has made us turn away from the loving God. Waywardness is turning away from the love of God and embracing the nature of sin, the life of the children of Israel is a typical example of waywardness. With a mighty hand and showing of signs and wonders God brought them out of slavery which they have been for over four hundred years. After their redemption God gave them laws to guide them through, but consistently they commit waywardness, on several occasion they neglect the God of their fathers and go after the gods of thier sinful neighbouring nations. Yet, God says... Come back to me, you wayw

What is your status before Him

2 Corinthians  5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. In the creation of the world, God created humanity in the divine image, this divine image was altered after the sin of Adam and Eve, Romans 3:9-20 reveals to us that we are all sinners and guilty before God. We have no fear of Him and hate His laws which he lovingly gave us, in other for us to measure up to his righteousness and acceptability.  The death and resurrection of Christ Jesus has given everyone the new life to come boldly before the father through grace.  As much as we keep living our life in this world and in expectation of the second coming or death, we should all know that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. The question is, what is your status befor

Consequence of Envying

Genesis  4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Envying is a feeling of resentful discontent, begrudging admiration, or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, possessions, or attainments; desire for something possessed by another. Envy is a sin of jealousy over the blessings and achievements and accumulated wealth of others, this could be material wealth or the jealousy of spiritual gifts of others. Cain and abel were both instructed to make sacrifice unto God, Abel's sacrifice was accepted while that of Cain was rejected. He became jealous and envied his brother's accepted  sacrifice while his was rejected. His envy leads to jealousy, jealousy leads to anger, anger leads to evil thoughts and evil thoughts leads to murder. This made him become the first murderer on earth and a wonderer for the rest of his life. Envy is a sin that comes with great consequences, some of which are 1. Envy bl

The risk in bad Parenting

Proverbs  22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Parenting is the process of raising children and providing them with protection and care in order to ensure their healthy development into adulthood. This healthy development involves  Instilling good morals, godly virtues, intellectual knowledge and building up their self esteem in other to become the best God has purposed them for in life.  Parents are to train their children in moral and godly behaviour. When the children leave the home, and subsequently by their foolishness go out into the wilderness of unrighteous living, when they are old they know the wisdom of righteous living that they learned from their parents.  There is no guarantees in training a child that he will not depart from the instruction he is given. If parents have fulfilled thier responsibility to implant a moral and godly guide by which their children can find their way back to righteousness after they leave

Roll away my Reproach

Psalms  69:19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.  Reproach means disgrace, shame, discredit, or blame or an act of mockery meted on someone, reproach can come from anyone, it can come from family members, close and intimate friends, boss at work, neighbours, colleagues etc.  Reproach is a result of stigma, can be stigma of failure, barrenness, unproductive, sickness or infirmity which one is going through in life... People see it and ridicule the person, they mock and body shame those who are experiencing these difficulties.  But in all, God is able to roll away all reproach and give laughter and testimony to anyone who can call on His name  Jabez was a glorious child with great destiny to fulfil in this world, but the time of his birth was a time of pain, sorrow, difficulties for his mother so she called him Jabez which means "he makes sorrowful".  This sorrow accompanied his destiny and all his life becomes sor

Jesus Christ, a Miracle worker and not a Magician

1 Kings  18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. There has always been a misconception of the difference between magic and miracle, there is a supernatural power that resides between them which nullifies the knowledge of natural science and technology.  In order to differentiate  the two, we must answer the following: in  whose power was it done, to what  purpose was it performed  and it is to  whose glory?  "Magic is the use of  various elements of psychology, science, optical deception, and physical manipulation to achieve the appearance of breaking the laws of nature. It is using the  natural means to create the appearance of the supernatural. A miracle is a true changing of the natural order. It is a happening that can only take place through the hand of God". (David Knights)  When God was about to deliver the children o
