The risk in bearing false witnesses

Exodus  20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

A witness is someone who has knowledge relevant to an event or other matter of interest, either oral or written. Eyewitness is one who testifies what they perceived through his or her senses (e.g. seeing, hearing, smelling, touching).

A false witness is someone who knows the truth but chooses to tell lies against an innocent person in a bid to cause trouble for the person or for personal gain.

A false witness is an enemy of truth, a murderer of justice and and an hypocrite.

Slanderers, gossipers, unproven accusation tellers, half truth tellers all fall under the judgment of fall witness.

No man has the right to endanger the good name of another through falsehoods that come from his mouth. The one who bears false witness against another is selfish, thinking only evil of the one against whom he has borne a false report.

God gave the commandment to moses for the children of Israelite in Exodus  20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Bearing false witness against another is a great evil before God and such person shall never go unpunished.

Shall we consider some people in the bible.

1. Satan.

Satan was the first to bear false witness in a bid  deceive Eve into eating the forbidden fruit the Lord commanded them not to. He knows the truth, but in other to make man sin He bears false witness.

2. Ananias and Sapphira
Acts  5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,  5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.  5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?  5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

These two couples lied against the Holy spirit before the Apostles, they kept back what was suppose to be brought to the Apostles feet and also gave a false words. They died instantly.

3. Joseph's brothers.
Joseph’s brothers deceived Jacob, by telling lie that he was killed by a wild animal. They deceived their own father and make him mourn for a living child. Their evil act hunt after them daily till they come in contact with Joseph in Egypt. (Gen. 37:20, 32-33).
To bear false witness is to lie against the truth when knowing the truth.

What you risk when you bear false witness

1. You become an enemy of God.
Our God is a just God, and can never condone any form of falsehood, when you make yourself a tool of falsehood, you automatically become an enemy of God.

2. You will loose your peace.
No one ever bear false witness will live in peace, the pain and damaged caused to the innocent person will hunt after them.

3. God's punishment is on you.
Proverbs  19:9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish. No false witness will go unpunished, either on this earth or in eternity.

Have you been a  false witness against a person before?  Are you bearing false witness?, have you taken the job of bearing false witness and using your office to send innocent persons to jail?  the anger of the Lord is coming over you except you repent.

The blood of the innocent that was killed because of your false witness,  the integrity of the innocent you destroyed through your false witness will continue to hunt you down.

Repent now before it is too late.

God bless you.
