Enter through the narrow way

Matthew  7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Our life here on earth is a pilgrimage and we are all pilgrims, we look forward to see and experience that eternal bliss with our maker, but there is only one way that leads to the kingdom of God even though there are many routes that seems to be the way but the end is destruction

Strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to the eternal life in God, but only few walk in it

The way of life is all righteousness, and is called narrow for the contrary reasons. It must be considered that unless one walk in the way, he cannot arrive at the gate; so they that walk not in the way of righteousness, it is impossible that they truly know Christ.

The path does not accommodate any attachment whatsoever that we may think we wish to carry along, it does not require luggages which we may wish to carry along.

The journey is like a parable.

Consider someone willing to travel to another country for example Africa to Asia, instead of taking through the air  means of transport, but choose to follow the desert, walking through.... Not minding the pain, the length of days, the hunger and the thirst. At some point you won't consider carrying anything along, but your life only matters, because anything you carry becomes weight that slows you down.

So also is the journey to the kingdom of God, your life only matters, you have got to drop any attachments, loads, luggages that are capable of slowing you down, because the path is full of pain.

The narrow way will take all you have.
1.  Your Desire
Philippians  3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.  3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Apostle was teaching the church in philippi the cost of wining Christ while waking through the narrow way.

He was able to affirms that he lost all just for the sake of wining what only matter,

Apostle Paul forsook his title and honour, his family and relatives and took up to be a disciple of Christ walking in the narrow path of righteousness.

As a believer in Christ who long to be with Him in eternity, the narrow path must take away your desires, it must consume it to the point of considering it as loss.

If you think you are walking in the narrow path and you are still struggling with your desires, I'm afraid you are walking in the direction that leads to destruction.

2. Your way of life.
One of the controversial and most painful thing that many find difficult to forsake on the narrow path is the way of life.

This entails, how we relate with people (loving people to the fullness, praying for our enemy, not seeking revenge etc),

Our mode of dressing:
considering that any thing we put one that is not edifying and can cause another to sin is not allowed in the narrow way even if it is generally accepted in the society.
1 Timothy  2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Our mode of communication :
Ephesians  4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

You can't talk the way people of the world talk, you can't say just anything  but whatever that must come out of your mouth must be seasoned with grace.

Our life in the journey must be refined in the fire of righteousness and total submission so that all the impurities be taken away from our life In other for us to be fit for the journey.

Few are they that walk on the narrow way, many have turned back and only little number is bearing the pain to end well.

Are you bearing the pain?, have you lost something for the sake of the journey?, though it may be loss here on earth, but it is heaven's gain.

If you have not lost anything since you accepted Christ as your Lord and saviour, you are definitely walking on the broad path that leads to destruction.

Consider your ways, and seek the old rugged path that leads to the kingdom of God.

God bless you.
