The essence of Pentecost
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
After the resurrection, Christ gathered his disciples and those who believed in him at Galilie for a parting word. He charged them to continue in the teaching he had taught them and also never to depart from Jerusalem but to wait for the promise of the Father... The Holy Spirit.
The promise of the Father came while the disciples and the believers gathered in the upper room on the very day of pentecost which is fifty days after the resurrection.
The significance of pentecost came after the outpouring of the spirit of God upon everyone who was at the upper room. All who gathered received the Holy spirit. They all spoke in a new language different from their native.
The essence of pentecost must be adequately understood by anyone who believes in Christ Jesus.
Christ did not gave the promise of the Holy Spirit to just only the disciples, it was given to all who believes or will believe in him.
The essence of pentecost which is the appearing of the Holy spirit is to create seamless communication between a believer and God through Jesus Christ. While he was on earth, wherever he goes, his disciples followed, but while he ascended, it is paramount that he keeps communication, and this can only be possible through the help of the Holy spirit.
The Holy spirit is given for you as a believer to know the mind of God personally and not through any proxy. For he will teach all things... And bring to remembrance all things Christ has taught while on earth. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The essence of pentecost is also to make everyone a witness to the grace and good news God gave to all mankind through our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Another essence of the pentecost is to be able to decipher the truth from the lies of false teachers, Prophets and apostles that will flood the earth in later days.
If anyone solely depend on pastors and prophets without deep intimacy with God through the Holy Spirit, such will be easily swayed away by the philosophy of man.
You can never grow to maturity in God without having an encounter of pentecost... The Holy spirit.
The question is, have you ever witnessed the pentecost experience in your life? Your believe in Christ can be challenged if you are not deeply rooted in the Holy spirit.
Thirst for it,pray for it, wait for it, and allow it to have an expression in your life. Only then will you be able to stand the test of time in this end time..
