Be a good example
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Believers in Christ Jesus are the light in the darkness of this world, they are to illuminate the character of Christ anywhere thy find themselves
A good disciple of Christ will showcase God's love, compassion, forgiveness and kindness, if this is not seen in anyone who claims to be a follower of Christ, then such person is a bad example for others.
When the lifestyle of the teacher conforms to the message he teaches, then there is power in his teaching
Paul exhorted Timothy to manifest an example in daily communication in conversation and teaching. Daily Christian behaviour, loving concern for the affairs of others, faithfulness and maintaining purity in his life.
Our character and behaviour speaks louder and better than the words of our mouth, we have a greater chance of influencing others by what we do rather than what we peach or say.
2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
As a young man, Timothy had inherited an unwavering and sincere faith that had been handed down to him through his mother and grandmother. The spiritual leadership of Lois and Eunice manifested itself in the faithful work of a grandmother and mother to continue their spiritual heritage through their children.
Timothy was the third generation of this spiritual heritage. Therefore, through her Faithfulness, Lois passed through her daughter Eunice a spiritual heritage that affected thousands of people through her evangelistic grandson, Timothy. This is a very good example exhibited through a grandmother that cut across a third generation.
The children of Eli were bad examples of children born in the household of God. They exhibited a sinful character which negates the integrity and truthfulness of the offside of their father as a priest. Thankfully Samuel was not influenced by the act of their wickedness but it ended the priesthood office in their generation.
What example are you giving your children?
As a leader what example are you to your subjects?
As a minister of God, what example are you to the sheep of God which are in your care?
Your life as a whole has an increased influence rate on those looking up to you than what you preach or say.
In very thing you do... 1 Timothy 4:12 ...but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. By this, you truly represent Christ.
Do not be an obstacle to another person's downfall.
