Song of Thanksgiving
Psalms 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
David stirs up His soul to give praises to God, He holds self-communion, beginning with self examination
He is distressed over his lack of thankfulness (what is wrong with me? Why am I so slow to be thankful?)
Why David may have needed this exhortation...
... He may have been passing through great trials
... He may have experienced some great loss
... He may have been betrayed by people he trusted
... He may have simply become routine in his worship
What is the reason for your lack of and attitude of gratitude?
David states His need to be thankful (verse 2)
Thanksgiving has great curative power
... It brings the peace of God into your life
... It makes you a positive, praising person
... It enables you to experience contentment
Nothing should stop you from giving God thanks every day, every time, anytime and in any situation.
When you are rich, He is your support
When you are alone, He is your confidence
When you are betrayed, He is your trust
When you are poor, He is your wealth
When you are rejected, He is your family and friend
When you are thirsty, He is your fountain
When you are sick, He is your healing
When you are barren, He is your provider
When you are crying, He is your comforter
When life seems so difficult, He is your joy
Even when the world around you passes away, His words still remain for you.
Appreciate God, no matter the situation you may find yourself. (some are actually praying to be at the level you are.)
God bless you.
