Ungrateful Soul

Luke  17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?  17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.  17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. As believers, It is an act of response of appreciation for all God has done for us either in the past, present or future.

God expects us to be grateful because He is the source of all things and all we can ever be. But being an ungrateful Soul detest God and angers him.

A lesson for us is in the story of the ten lepers whom God has just healed.

As Jesus was traveling, he met ten lepers who approached him from a distance. In that day, leprosy was one of the worst plagues that could befall someone. There was no known cure, and little treatment. The disease would slowly eat away at the body. It would horribly disfigure the person and it was thought to be contagious.

Lepers were seen as walking dead men then . It’s no surprise that the Scriptures often use leprosy as a metaphor for sin.

Jesus dealt with lepers on a couple of occasions, but here today we see Him take on ten of the walking dead men at once! They approached him saying “Jesus, Master-have mercy on us.” They must have heard of Him and his healing power. They had absolutely nothing to lose, and probably looked at it as a final hope

Jesus simply approached them, and never actually touched them. He said “go and show yourself to the priests.” The priest actually functioned not just as the spiritual head of the people, but also in civil, ceremonial and even medical capacities. Only a priest could condemn or clear a leper from participation in society.

“And as they went they were cleansed.” their life changed as they respond with obedience to God's directive.

Nine of them went their way, no one could imagine why, maybe the location of Jesus is too far for them to reach for thanksgiving, maybe they were too joyous to have suddenly forgotten to go back to Christ and give thanks.

But then came the one. As he left the priest’s office, his thoughts of new life were quieted by something called gratitude. He became profoundly aware of what had just happened and he considered the true implications. This stranger named Jesus had answered their cry for mercy-with MERCY. He cut through all the emotion and the human explanation and he realized-this man is the Son of the Living God and He healed me, He gave me back my life.

And as he came back to Jesus, His healing was made permanent. Luke  17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

You see, true gratitude should be rooted in our faith. True thankfulness requires an object, someone at the end of the line, someone at the beginning. There is a foundation and an author of blessing in our lives who is responsible for every good thing.

Lack of gratitude is one of the reasons our testimonies becomes touted by the devil and our latter prayers are not answered, we only have the attitude of requesting from God without thanking Him for what He has done in the past. Sometimes God Himself do withheld answers to our prayers. But He who has the heart of thanksgiving makes God happy and receive answers to his prayers in due time.

An ungrateful Soul is the one that murmur before God even after God has done so much. This is an act of tempting God which can result to becoming an enemy of God.
1 Corinthians  10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.  10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Gratitude keeps the channel of God’s favour open, just like it was kept open for the man who came came back.

Gratitude makes our minds open and bright.
Gratitude helps us conform into the image of Christ.
Gratitude makes us closer to God.

Being able to thank God for everything is an expression of our faith and trust in love and care of our Heavenly Father.

Grateful heart is a victory over haughtiness and pride.

Many ungrateful people are always full of complain, even when they are healed and delivered from one problem., they still complain about another

Check your life today, think deeply how you have been ungrateful to God and His ministers, your boss, your fiends   associates and those who has helped you in the last.

your present predicament may be as a result of being ungrateful for what He has done in the past.

No matter how little you may think the goodness is, give thanks and appreciate God, by doing that, you open the door for more from Him.

Gratitude most time moves God to do more than we can ever ask,
If you think God has not done anything for you, what about the life you have now?, what about the good health,? what about journey mercies? What about food on your table.

There is so much to be grateful for., don't be an ungrateful Soul, cultivate the habit of gratitude today and experience more of God's blessing in your life.

God bless you.
