Spiritual Growth
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Growth is the act, process, or a manner of growing; the development; gradual increase of size or stage of development:
Growing in God is a lifelong aspiration in a believer's faith journey, we are born newly when we gave our life to Christ and choses him as our Lord and personal saviour
Genuine spiritual growth always results in a better grasp of our own weaknesses and a greater reliance upon God's strength.
As a believer, we are expected to grow in God to the stage of maturity, moving from being infants who are fed with milk to adulthood being fed with solid food of God's word.
If we remain stagnant as a baby without proper growth in God, we will find it difficult to comprehend the knowledge of God per season, devil will contend with our faith, and temptations can easily pull us down from the ladder of spiritual buoyancy.
Ways to grow in Christ and in God as we walk with Him includes the following
Know you are saved.
Believe in the trustworthiness of Scripture. Believe in the finality of Jesus’ death (it was full and perfect and we can’t add to it). We must call upon the name of the Lord by faith alone in Christ alone we are saved. And, finally, there must be a changed and transformed life (spiritual fruit is evident). Also, never doubt your salvation once you have surrendered all to Christ.
Immerse yourself in the Scripture.
There must be a steady, constant intake of the Word of God. The more we put it into practice into our lives is the extent we will grow as Christians.
Grow to love and worship God.
As we grow in our relationship with the Lord and our devotion to Him and for Him, He becomes more precious and glorious to us. We must exercise our love to him daily through worship.
Live in obedience to Christ.
Not according to our own agenda, but according to the Word of God and obedience to Him. Spiritual growth requires total obedience to God without reservation
1 Peter 1:2 "according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood"
Be filled with the Spirit.
Being filled with the Holy spirit is one of the major attributes of being mature in God. Our life will continually be controlled and directed by the spirit of God rather then flesh, and we will constantly be conscious of His presence.
Resist the world, the flesh, and the devil
The world, the evil world system that dominates the world as we know it. The things of the world don't seem expendable because we haven't found Christ supremely valuable. We are to enjoy the world God has given us, to be sure. But we are to avoid the evil empire that is behind the realms of this world.
1 John 2:15 "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Be in close fellowship with other Christians.
Fellowship with fellow brethren is another way to grow in God, this is essential for support, motivation, counselling among others,
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Be in prayer before God.
Prayer is one of the communication medium man has with God, it must be kept unbroken so as to maintain steady growth in Him.
We also grow when we lay aside every forms of carnality
1 Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
God expects everyone to grow in Him, it is His will for us. You must ensure you grow daily in Him else you become stunted which can be easily pull off track by the tricks of the devil.
God bless you.
Prayer key:

2. Lord, help me to grow in you in Jesus Christ name.
3. Lord, give me the grace to continue to live in you till the end in Jesus Christ name.
