The joy in Patience
Psalms 33:20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. 33:21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.
Patience is one of the virtue of the spirit that every believers must possess in other to operate in the maximum of God and also succeed in Him.
Walking with God in the spirit is a sacrifice, and patience is adequately needed. It is evident that God doesn't work with the the time zone of man, so the need to be patience with Him when waiting on Him, because to the look of man, He can be too early in His instructions or too late In giving His blessings or answers to our prayers.
In so many ways, God expect us to exercise the spirit of patience... In the waiting room, in the ministry, in tribulations, in yielding to His call and many more... Our patience in Him guarantees our success both in Him and in the world.
Hurrying ahead of God instead of waiting patiently on Him will result into sorrow, catastrophy and sometimes irreversible errors.
Gehazi wasn't patient enough with His master in the spirit, but hurriedly went ahead to collect gifts deceitfully from someone that has just be delivered. The end result was termination of his prophetic office and banishment.
2 Kings 5:26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? 5:27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
There is a lot of joy in being patient with God on the matters of our life. Our joy, blessings and glory can only be full if we exercise patience for the whole time God wants us to wait rather than being in hurry to get ahead of Him.
Abraham was patient with God in other to receive the promised child, at the end, it was all joy and comforting... It added no sorrow. Genesis 21:5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 21:6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 21:7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.
Hannah was patient with God till she receive Samuel the promised child despite all the mockery and intimidation from her rival. Her joy knows no bound. 1 Samuel 2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. 2:2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
Jesus Christ our saviour was patient with God while going through the rigorous works of our salvation on the cross of calvary... His patience provides for us the joy of salvation that many of us Boast of in God today.
There is joy in patience,
Take your time to be patient with God, it may be time consuming, difficult and unbearable... But the end is always glorious.
Don't be in hurry to be ahead of God, else you will not last.
