The tongue of the learned

Isaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

The words we speak revolves around life and death, our life can experience blessing if the words that proceed from our mouth is seasoned with grace, so also if we continually speak evil, our life can experience destruction. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

From the book of Isaiah 50:4 The word "learned" refers not only to intellectual knowledge but also to wisdom and understanding. It is a tongue that is guided by knowledge, tempered by experience, and motivated by a desire to do good.

We all know the power of words. They can lift us up or tear us down. They can bring joy or cause pain. They can inspire us or crush our spirits. In this world, where our words are often weaponized, it is essential that we cultivate a "tongue of the learned."

Isaiah 50:4 says, "The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary." This verse reminds us that our words have the power to comfort those who are struggling, to lift them up and give them hope. When we speak with wisdom and understanding, we can offer guidance and support to those who need it most.

But how do we cultivate a "tongue of the learned"?

The first step is to be mindful of our words. We must recognize that every word we speak has an impact, and we must choose our words carefully. We must be guided by wisdom, seeking to understand the situations and people we are speaking to.

Secondly, we must be motivated by a desire to do good. Our words should not be used to hurt others or to serve our own interests. Instead, we should speak with the intention of helping others and bringing them closer to God.

And lastly, we must be willing to learn from our experiences. We will not always get it right, but if we approach every situation with humility and a willingness to learn, we can grow in our ability to speak with wisdom and understanding which is motivated by the spirit of God in us.

Let us strive to cultivate a "tongue of the learned." May our words be guided by wisdom and motivated by a desire to do good.

God bless you.
