Be confident of whom you serve

1 Samuel  17:45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.  17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.  17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands.

We read about the story of David and Goliath, where the Israelites were facing the Philistines in a battle. The Philistines had a giant warrior named Goliath, who challenged the Israelites to send out a champion to fight him. The Israelites were afraid, but David, a young shepherd boy, stepped forward with confidence and defeated Goliath.

David declared to Goliath, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." David was confident in whom he served, and he knew that God was on his side.

He was not timid by the physical appearance of a well trained giant Goliahat, he was not  discouraged by his ratting, but rather he was encourage by his faith in God and the mighty things he has done in the past.

We can learn a lot from David's example. In our lives, we face many battles and challenges. We may feel overwhelmed and afraid, just like the Israelites did. But we should remember that we serve a powerful God who is always with us. We should have confidence in Him and trust that He will guide us through every situation.

In verse 47, David said to Goliath, "All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands." David understood that the victory was not his, but God's. He gave all the glory to God, and this is something that we should do as well.

When we face challenges in our lives, we should not rely on our own strength or abilities. Instead, we should turn to God and seek His guidance and help. We should have confidence in Him and trust that He will provide us with everything we need to overcome our challenges.

Let us be like David and have confidence in whom we serve. Let us trust in God's power and rely on Him to guide us through every situation. And let us always give Him the glory for our victories, knowing that it is not by our own strength, but by His grace and mercy.

God bless you.
