keeping God's word
Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
In a world characterized by shifting values and fleeting truths, God's Word remains an unwavering foundation. Jesus emphasizes that even the smallest letter or stroke of a pen will not disappear until everything is accomplished.
This reveals the immutability and timeless relevance of the Scriptures. It is not subject to the whims of culture or personal preferences but stands as an eternal truth.
As believers, we are called to honour and respect every aspect of God's Word, recognizing that it is divinely inspired and authoritative in guiding our lives. It is our compass, our roadmap, and our source of wisdom. The unchanging nature of God's Word compels us to embrace it wholeheartedly and not compromise its teachings.
Jesus makes it clear that merely acknowledging or teaching God's commandments is not enough. He encourages us to be doers of the Word, actively living out its principles in our daily lives. We are not only called to hear but also to obey.
Our obedience to God's Word stems from our love and reverence for Him. When we willingly submit ourselves to His commands, we experience the joy and blessings that come from aligning our lives with His divine will. Obedience is not a burden but a privilege, for it leads us to a life of righteousness and transforms us into the image of Christ.
Moreover, Jesus emphasizes the importance of teaching God's commandments. Our responsibility as disciples of Christ is to pass on His teachings to others, equipping them to walk in obedience and holiness. By doing so, we participate in the great commission of spreading the Gospel and making disciples of all nations.
Thankfully, Jesus assures us of the reward that awaits those who faithfully keep God's Word. He proclaims that those who practice and teach His commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. This reward is not based on our achievements or merits but on our faithfulness and commitment to God's Word.
When we prioritize God's Word in our lives, we experience transformation, spiritual growth, and a deepening intimacy with our heavenly Father. The rewards may not always be visible in this present age, but they are stored up for us in eternity. Our faithfulness will be recognized and celebrated in the kingdom of heaven, where we will enjoy eternal communion with our Lord.
Finally, let us heed the words of Jesus and commit ourselves to keeping God's Word. May we embrace its unchanging nature, live in obedience and practice its teachings, and eagerly anticipate the rewards of faithfulness. As we do so, we become living testimonies of God's grace and love to a world that desperately needs Him.
God bless you.
