keeping God's word

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. In a world characterized by shifting values and fleeting truths, God's Word remains an unwavering foundation. Jesus emphasizes that even the smallest letter or stroke of a pen will not disappear until everything is accomplished.  This reveals the immutability and timeless relevance of the Scriptures. It is not subject to the whims of culture or personal preferences but stands as an eternal truth. As believers, we are called to honour and respect every aspect of God's Word, recognizing that it is divinely inspired and authoritative in guiding our lives. It is our compass, our roadmap, and o...

Faint in time of adversity

Proverbs 24:10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.  Adversity is an inevitable part of our human existence, but how we respond to it can make all the difference.  Adversity refers to hardships, difficulties, and challenges that we encounter on our journey through life. It can come in various forms, such as personal loss, financial struggles, health issues, relationship problems, or even persecution for our faith.  It is essential to recognize that adversity is not a sign of God's abandonment or punishment, but rather an opportunity for growth, refinement, and spiritual development. The verse above warns us about the peril of fainting in the day of adversity. To faint means to lose heart, to become discouraged, and to give up. When faced with trials, it is tempting to succumb to despair, doubt, and fear. We may question God's goodness or feel overwhelmed by the weight of our circumstances. However, if we allow ourselves to faint, we undermine ou...

Holy Ghost Anointing

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. The anointing of the Holy Ghost is the impartation of God’s grace and power to work, it is God's manifestation having an expression in the life of man. In Act 10:38, we witness the anointing of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, by God Himself with the Holy Ghost and power. This anointing was not a casual occurrence but a divine appointment for a specific purpose. The anointing of Jesus was intended to equip Him for His ministry on earth. It empowered Him to do good and bring healing to all who were oppressed by the devil. Jesus' anointing was not limited to performing miracles but also extended to teaching, preaching, and demonstrating God's love and compassion. The anointing Jesus received was a divine impartation from God. It was a mark of God's favor and approval. God, in His infinite wisdom,...

Sparingly Seeds

2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  In our lives, we often desire to experience abundance, blessings, and God's favor. And in His divine wisdom, He has provided us with the key to unlocking these blessings. This he has given us through the scripture  In 2 Corinthians 9:6, the apostle Paul reminds us, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully." This verse encapsulates a fundamental spiritual principle that extends beyond the realm of agriculture. Just as a farmer reaps what they sow, our acts of giving and generosity yield results in our lives. Luke 6:38 expounds on the pr...

Joseph's challenges made him strong

Genesis 37:26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?  Joseph, the son of Jacob, is our subject of discuss today. His inspiring journey is chronicled in the book of Genesis. Despite facing betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, Joseph's faith and unwavering trust in God enabled him to rise above his circumstances and become a shining example of strength, resilience, and divine providence. In Genesis 37:26, we find Joseph's brothers plotting against him out of jealousy. They stripped him of his coat of many colors and threw him into a pit, planning to sell him into slavery. This act of betrayal and abandonment was the beginning of Joseph's challenges. However, we also see that Joseph was a dreamer. God had given him dreams and visions of greatness, which he shared with his family. These dreams stirred up jealousy and resentment among his brothers, but little did they know that those dreams were a glimpse of God's...

Those that served God truly

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  The joy of every service is in the benefits, wages or honorarium that would be given at the end. Believers in Christ are not exempted, our scriptural text today speaks of the eternal reward awaiting those who have faithfully followed the Lord.  This verse reminds us that in the presence of our Heavenly Father, all suffering and sorrow will cease to exist. Our tears will be wiped away, and the pain we experienced in this earthly realm will be forever forgotten. The promise of divine comfort resonates deeply within our hearts, offering solace to those who have faithfully served God. Death, the great adversary of humanity, will be conquered once and for all in the presence of our Lord. For those who have truly served God, the sting of death loses its power.  Our mortal ...

The fear of God

Deuteronomy 8:6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. Sometimes, when we hear the term "fear," we associate it with terror or anxiety. However, when we speak of the fear of God, it carries a different meaning. The fear of God is not about being frightened but about developing a deep reverence and awe for the Almighty. It is an acknowledgment of His sovereignty, holiness, and the recognition that He alone is worthy of our worship and obedience. In Deuteronomy 8:6, Moses instructs the Israelites to keep the commandments of the Lord and walk in His ways. The fear of God is closely tied to obedience. As we embrace the fear of God, we recognize that His commandments are not burdensome but are given for our own good.  When we fear God, we desire to align our lives with His divine wisdom and understanding. Proverbs 9:10 reminds us, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One...

Natural Man

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. In the world we live in today, there are those who reject the things of God and find them foolishness. Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Corinthians, addresses this very issue and helps us understand the importance of the Holy Spirit in discerning God's wisdom.  The natural man refers to an individual who does not possess the Holy Spirit within them. This person relies solely on human intellect, knowledge, and worldly wisdom.  The natural man views spiritual matters as foolishness because they lack the spiritual discernment necessary to comprehend the things of God. In their limited perspective, they fail to grasp the deep mysteries of faith and often dismiss them as irrelevant or irrational. The natural man is unable to accept the truths that originate from the Spirit of God. They may enco...

Our Refuge and Strength

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We are In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, and chaos, we often find ourselves searching for a place of refuge, a sanctuary where we can find solace and peace is what every human longed for daily.  Our hearts long for a source of strength that can sustain us through life's trials and tribulations. The psalmist reminds us that our ultimate refuge and strength are found in God alone. Firstly, we are reminded that God is our refuge. A refuge is a place of safety, a shelter in the midst of the storm. Just as a weary traveler seeks shelter in the strong walls of a fortress, we can find refuge in the arms of our loving Creator.  In times of trouble, when the storms of life rage around us, we can run to God and find comfort in His presence. He is our hiding place, a refuge from the troubles that threaten to overwhelm us. In Him, we discover a sanctuary where we can find rest for our souls. Secondly, God...

Excellent Things

Proverbs 22:20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, Philippians 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; The book of Proverbs is renowned for its practical wisdom, guiding us in righteous living. In Proverbs 22:20, we read, "Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge?" This verse emphasizes the value of knowledge and wise counsel in our pursuit of excellence.  As we immerse ourselves in the Word of God, we gain insights into godly living, righteous choices, and the principles that lead to success. It is through this knowledge that we can navigate life's challenges and make wise decisions. To pursue excellence, we must seek godly counsel and embrace knowledge. Proverbs reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Therefore, we should be humble enough to seek advice from those who have walked the path of faith, and e...

Due Season

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. In a world filled with challenges, it is easy to grow weary and discouraged. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to press on, to continue doing good even when we face obstacles.  Paul's words remind us not to lose heart but to stay steadfast in our commitment to live according to God's will. We are called to persevere in acts of kindness, love, and obedience, trusting that our labor in the Lord is not in vain. The key to reaping the blessings of due season lies in our faithfulness to God's Word. God's promises are steadfast and true, but they are often fulfilled in His perfect timing.  Our role is to remain faithful and patient, even when we cannot yet see the fruits of our labor. The world may discourage us, circumstances may seem dire, but when we continue to trust God and remain obedient, we position ourselves to receive the blessings He has in store for...

First Fruit

Proverbs  3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:  3:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. We are called to honour the Lord with our wealth. This goes beyond merely acknowledging God's provision in our lives; it involves recognizing that everything we have comes from Him.  Our material possessions, financial resources, and even the talents and abilities we possess are all gifts from God. Therefore, it is our responsibility to honour Him by using these resources wisely and for His glory. The passage goes on to highlight the importance of the firstfruits. In biblical times, the firstfruits referred to the initial and best portion of the harvest that was set apart and presented to the Lord. It was an act of trust, obedience, and gratitude.  By offering the first and finest of their produce to God, the people demonstrated their faith and acknowledged His provision as the...

Loaded benefits

Psalms 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. This verse beautifully captures the heart of our Heavenly Father, who is not only willing to bless us but desires to lavish us with His abundant goodness. Today, let us delve into this concept of loaded benefits and discover the amazing blessings God has in store for us. Before we can fully understand the loaded benefits God offers us, it is crucial to understand their source. The verse clearly states that it is the Lord who daily loads us with benefits. Our God, who is infinite in wisdom, power, and love, is the source of all blessings.  He is not a stingy God but a generous one, desiring to pour out His goodness upon His children. As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that the benefits we receive come directly from the hand of our Heavenly Father. The word "benefits" implies something advantageous, beneficial, or favorable. Our Heavenly Father desires to bless...

Riches Charge

1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; The text above is a great lesson to learn about riches and its essence and impact it should have on us as believers.  Paul begins by reminding us of the uncertainty of earthly riches. He says, "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain" (1 Timothy 6:17a).  Wealth can provide comfort, security, and influence, but it can also disappear in an instant. Stock markets crash, economies fluctuate, and fortunes can vanish. Relying solely on material possessions for security is an empty pursuit. Paul redirects our focus by revealing the true source of riches. He states, "but to put their hope in God, who richly provides u...

Comfort Zion

Zechariah 1:17 Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem. God's promises to His people always come when they needed it the most, this was not different to the people of Zion with the promise of Restoration and comfort.   Prophet Zechariah was tasked with delivering this message of hope to a nation that had experienced exile, destruction, and despair. It is a message that resonates with us today, as we navigate the challenges and hardships of our own lives. Zion, often used as a metaphor for the people of God, represents a place of dwelling, security, and spiritual connection. It is a symbol of God's abiding presence among His people. However, there are times when Zion finds itself in a state of desolation, where the comforts and blessings seem distant and unattainable. But let us take heart, for the Lord declares that He will once again comfort Zi...

God's mighty shaking

Haggai  2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.  2:8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. Today's text reflects the time when God's people had returned from exile in Babylon to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. However, they faced numerous challenges, and their focus had shifted from God's house to their own comfort and prosperity. Haggai, the prophet, was sent by God to remind the people of their priorities and to encourage them to rebuild the temple.  Verse 7 declares that God will shake all nations. This shaking signifies divine intervention in the affairs of humanity, causing upheaval and disruption. But why would God shake everything? He does so to reveal His glory and establish His kingdom. It is a call for humanity to recognize His sovereignty and align their lives with His purposes. While God's shaking is often manifested in physical a...

Never be dismayed

Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. In the passage above, Jesus encourages us not to be dismayed or anxious about our lives, for our Heavenly Father knows our needs and promises to provide for us. These words resonate deeply with us, especially in times of uncertainty and hardship.  Jesus reminds us of the futility of worrying excessively about our material needs. He points to the example of the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, which are cared for by God. If God takes such great care of His creation, how much more will He provide for His children, who are created in His image? We must trust that God is aware of our needs and will fulfill t...

The world is of the Lord

Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Everything that ever existed in this world is created by God, Psalm 24:1 begins with the resounding proclamation, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." These words affirm the Lord's divine ownership and ultimate authority over all creation.  From the majestic mountains to the vast oceans, from the depths of the forests to the songs of the birds, everything finds its origin and purpose in God. Our world, with its intricate design and delicate balance, is a reflection of the Creator's divine craftsmanship. In Psalm 50:10-11, the Lord reminds us that He does not require our offerings, for "every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills." The wealth and abundance of this world are His, and He does not depend on our offerings to sustain Himself.  This realization humbles us and highlights our role as stewards rather tha...

Manna from above

Psalms 78:24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. 78:25 Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full. In the wilderness, the Israelites faced many challenges, and hunger was one of them. However, in their time of need, God demonstrated His unwavering faithfulness. He rained down manna, a heavenly bread, to sustain them day after day.  This miraculous provision reminds us that God is not only aware of our needs but is also committed to meeting them. Just as He provided for the Israelites, He will provide for us in our own seasons of scarcity and uncertainty. The manna given to the Israelites was not merely physical sustenance; it carried profound spiritual significance. It served as a daily reminder of their complete dependence on God.  The manna was not something they could store up or hoard for the future. They had to trust God's faithfulness each day, gathering enough for that day alone. In this way, God taught th...

Through wisdom and understanding

Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: The foundation of a strong and prosperous life begins with wisdom. Wisdom is not merely the accumulation of knowledge but the ability to discern right from wrong and make sound decisions.  It is the understanding that comes from a humble heart, seeking guidance from God. As the Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." In the context of Proverbs 24:3, the term "house" can be understood metaphorically as our lives, relationships, and endeavors. Just as a house requires careful planning, craftsmanship, and solid materials, our lives demand a similar approach.  Wisdom guides us in constructing a life that is solid, stable, and built upon the principles of righteousness and truth. Without wisdom, our efforts may be in vain, leading to a crumbling existence. Wisdom alone is not sufficient. It is understanding that establishes and stre...

God's greatest supply

Leviticus 26:5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. As believers, we often find ourselves seeking God's provision in various aspects of our lives. We long for His blessings, His favor, and His abundance. Just has he promised and made provisions for Abraham and his descendant, so also is his power potent enough to give unto us the richness of his blessings.  In Leviticus 26, God lays out a covenant with His people, promising them great blessings if they faithfully follow His commandments. In verse 5, God declares, "Your threshing shall last till the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last till the time for sowing. And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely." God's promise here is one of abundant provision. He assures His people that their crops will yield bountifully, their harvest will ...

Heavenly backing

Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  Our journey on this earth is not without challenges, but we have been blessed with a divine promise of heavenly backing. In Matthew 18:18, Jesus declares, "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." These words hold the key to understanding the incredible power and authority that God has granted us.   In Matthew 18, Jesus addresses His disciples, emphasizing the importance of humility, forgiveness, and unity within the body of believers. He reminds them that they have been given the authority to make decisions that align with the will of God.  When Jesus speaks of binding and loosing, He is referring to the authority to declare something lawful or unlawful, to forbid or permit. This power was not meant to be wielded arbi...

Affliction will never rise again

Nahum 1:9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. Affliction is a universal experience in the human journey. Each one of us has faced hardships, trials, and tribulations at some point in our lives.  These afflictions can manifest in various forms such as physical pain, emotional distress, relational struggles, or spiritual battles. We cannot deny the existence and impact of affliction, as it often leaves us feeling helpless, weary, and burdened. However, in the midst of our afflictions, the Scriptures provide us with an extraordinary promise of deliverance. Nahum 1:9 states, "Affliction will not rise again; the wicked will not oppress you twice." These words resonate with divine assurance that God is aware of our sufferings and is actively involved in our lives. The verse assures us that affliction, though it may come our way, will not endure forever. To fully comprehend the significance of this promise, w...

He who loveth instructions

Proverbs 12:1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. The book of Proverbs is filled with practical wisdom, and in this verse, we are reminded of the immeasurable worth of instruction. Instruction refers to guidance, correction, and discipline that come from various sources, including God's Word, godly mentors, and our own life experiences. It is through instruction that we gain knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of God's ways. To truly benefit from instruction, we must cultivate a love for it. Love for instruction goes beyond a mere passive acceptance or tolerance. It is an active desire to seek knowledge and grow in wisdom.  When we love instruction, we approach it with humility, recognizing that we have much to learn. It requires an open heart and a willingness to receive correction and guidance, even when it challenges our preconceived notions or convicts us of our shortcomings. QThose who love instruction are not foolish but wis...

Help From above

Psalms  121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. In the midst of our daily lives, it is essential to recognize the authority and power of the One from whom our help comes. The Psalmist declares that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. This acknowledgment conveys the greatness of our God, who is not confined to earthly limitations but reigns over the entire universe.  As the Creator of all things, God possesses infinite wisdom, boundless resources, and unmatched sovereignty. When we seek help from above, we approach the One who holds the power to bring about change, transformation, and deliverance. As humans, we encounter situations and circumstances that are beyond our control. It is in these moments that we must humbly turn our gaze towards heaven and acknowledge our need for divine intervention.  The psalmist affirms that our help comes from the Lord, emphasizing the importance of seeking assistance from the One who is mo...

Pray without ceasing

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. Prayer is often seen as a specific action reserved for designated times, places, or circumstances. We may confine prayer to moments of desperation, seeking divine intervention when we face challenges or when we gather together in communal worship. But Paul's exhortation calls us to a different understanding—a prayerful attitude that permeates every aspect of our lives. To pray without ceasing does not mean to spend every moment on our knees or with our hands clasped in supplication. Instead, it calls us to cultivate a constant awareness of God's presence in our lives and to nurture an ongoing conversation with our Creator. It is an invitation to view prayer as an integral part of our existence, like breathing or the beating of our hearts. In this fast-paced world, it is easy for us to become consumed by our daily responsibilities, to be overwhelmed by the demands of work, family, and social commitments. We may find ourselves caught up...

The Lord's sheep

John  10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.  10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.   We are not just ordinary people wandering aimlessly through life, but we are precious to our Lord, and we belong to Him. we are the Lord's sheep. We belong to Him, and He knows us intimately. We are not just faceless individuals in a crowd, but we are known and loved by our Savior. Being the Lord's sheep means a lot  to us as believers, First of all,  we hear His voice. We are attuned to the voice of the Good Shepherd, and we follow Him wherever He leads us. We are not led astray by the voices of this world, but we are focused on the voice of our Lord. Secondly, being the Lord's sheep means that we have eternal life. Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish....
