Standing on the solid Rock
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
There was a time I was opportune to oversea the construction of a building project, working with the architect and the structure engineer, I was overwhelmed by the detailed instructions followed while erecting the foundation and the building.
Foundation, being the determinant of the strength of the house must never be joke with, apart from following the detailed instructions in the structural plan, the owner of the building added an instruction that, enough materials should be used to maintain a very strong foundation and building. Believe me, more than enough was used, it was even as if the materials were being wasted.
But the owner said, it is better to follow the detailed instruction in the approval and use more than enough materials and have a rest of mind latter, than not followed the detailed instructions and regret latter. The building is standing strong today.
Such was the foundation God laid for everyone after the first foundation was destroyed by the devil in the garden of Eden. This foundation was perfectly laid with the precious blood of Christ Jesus and He became the solid rock anyone who wants to stand strong must build on.
How can you stand on this solid rock? Jesus Christ gave a clearer picture of how to stand on the solid rock if we must survive the storms of life that will definitely arise in our walk in this world..
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Jesus said, whosoever hear the word and do them... This is by implication that for us to stand on the solid rock and not be moved by the storms of life, we must
1. Hear the word.
The bible says faith comes by hearing and that is hearing the word... Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
We must always be eager to hear the words of God, to receive His instructions and blueprint for our life, this in turn will make us confident, and understand the mind of God for our life.
2. Doing the word.
It is not enough to hear, many hear the word but fail to act on it, many receives God's instructions but refuse to act on them.. We can only stand on the solid rock and not be moved when we hear and act on the words accordingly. James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
It is certain that storms of life will come through temptation and deceit of the devil, through persecution and war, either physical or spiritual, how will you stand firm in this trying period if you are not standing on the solid rock of Christ by hearing and doing the word?
Standing on the solid rock is not just accepting Christ as Lord and personal saviour alone, it is not just bearing name with Christ and engaging in religious activities, it is by hearing the true word made available in the scriptures and prophecies and doing them, yielding to them and obeying them accordingly.
Check yourself today.
If you are not obeying God's instruction, you are not standing on the solid rock.
If you are still struggling with one sin or the other, you are not standing on the solid rock
If you still fulfil the desires of the flesh, you are not standing on the solid rock.
If the storm of life comes today, you will definitely fall flat and be trampled over by the devil.
Save yourself of present and eternal destruction from the storm of life and the attacks of the devil by standing on the solid rock of Christ in hearing and doing the word.
