Don't be Distracted
2 Timothy 2:4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
Becoming a follower of Christ through salvation makes us become one of the most wanted person by the devil, our identification with Christ has raised an alarm in the kingdom of hell, and the devil will definitely swing to action in other to get us away from the Lord God.
He cannot take us by force from God, because he has no power to do so, being that we have become a new being, having a new nature of righteousness in christ, contrary to the nature of sin he has power over.
In a bid to win us over to himself and displace our place in God, he places distractions along our path, by which if we give attention to it, our mind and soul will be captured by it and we will fall into the trap he has placed before us.
He will first capture our attention, Understand our movement and engages our mind in a conversation, he did with Eve in the garden of Eden, he tracked her down beside the forbidden fruit God had warned them not to eat, then he began to have conversation with her. Those that will not eat the forbidden fruit should not take a nap under the forbidden tree.
Just like today that he will track you down with sinful friends and associates, capture your attention with sinful images in your school, in your neighbourhood, at your place of work, and most importantly today, on the social media, once your mind can give attention to it, then the battle begins in your mind.
He will convince you with lies and register his intents in your mind, death will become pleasure to you, God's command will become slavery and breach of human right, you will even think it is God that is a liar. Eve was convinced that they will not surely die,
Once your heart is able to accept his lies and you launch into the journey of deceit he has placed your feet on, then he takes the wheel of your life.
1 Corinthians 7:35 And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.
There are many distractions in the world today, hardly can we do without one in a day, they can come from wrong accusation, depression over delay to get something from God, social media, wrong associates and even family members.
Joseph would have been distracted from the journey of becoming the prime minister in Egypt if he had slept with Potiphar's wife, but he flee, he doesn't allow the devil in her to register her intent in his heart, I wonder how many young men can stand this temptation today.
Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. The Discipline of God
For us to stand in the faith and end well with God, we must keep looking unto Jesus who has called us from the darkness of this world into the marvelous light of the kingdom of God.
Peter on the see wanted to walk like Christ on the water, but at the point he lose focus on Him, he began to sink,.. So also anyone who gets distracted from Christ, will sink into the pit of the devil.
Get acquitted with Christ, let His desire be your desire, let His will be your will, looking unto Him firmly always and following His steps as He leads you to the kingdom of God.
The devil will not stop presenting many distraction too appealing to ignore, but let the word of God, and fervent communication in prayer be your Shield and buckler so as to walk through the midst of temptations that flies around.
Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Know His presence, Know His provision, and Know His plan for your life so you won't be convinced with the counterfeit the devil is bringing to you through his deceptive means.
Stay on guard, don't be distracted.
God bless you.
