Reward of Unrighteousness

Romans  1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Unrighteousness is failure to adhere to moral principles, it is a free moral negative reaction to the will of God.

Unrighteousness is knowing the truth but chose to tell lies, it is being deceitful in manners of behaviour, character and our relationship with fellow men

 Our God is a righteous and truthful God so Unrighteousness is a sin before Him  which shall not go unpunished  1 John  5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

There is no doubt that unrighteousness has crept into our spiritual system and our relationship with God, many has classified unrighteous as an act of being smart or being wise, some at the expense of another man's peace, joy and happiness, but because we wanted to satisfy our burning desire we care less about others and God.

There is no sin without its punishment, unrighteousness included.

Consider the life of Jacob and Esau.

Jacob was God's favourite according to the scriptures, reasons best known to God, but yet, he chose to fast forward God's blessings upon his life through the help of his mother at the expense of his brother's destiny.

Two times  he was unrighteous with his brother, first, with the pottage while his brother was dead hungry... He received the first birthright out of deceit.

Secondly when their father was about to bless Esau, Rebekah helped Jacob to deceive Isaac and Esau..
Genesis  27:11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:  27:12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.  27:13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

Though he got what he wanted out of deceit, but God who is just will never seize to punish evil no matter how anointed or special you are in His hands

The first reward came when he wanted to chose Rachel as wife, he was deceived in return and given Leah as wife, He suffered for more seven years....
Genesis  29:25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?  29:26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.  29:27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.

The second reward came while he was traveling , that Rachel died of child birth and was buried on the way. Jacob could not enjoy the company of the woman she loved most, she was first barren, this brought unsettled rift between the wives.

The third reward came while he wanted to meet his brother again, he has always lived in fear of his brother, there was no peace for him. Isaiah  48:22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.... He feared his life to the point of willing to lose all he got out of deceit, but God was so kind to him, because Esau was already blessed and became great.

His final reward came when the children of Leah and the concubine planned Joseph's exit, the child of the love of his life. The agony of losing a beloved child was so great on Jacob that he almost lose his life, he never enjoyed the peace he wanted till his old age, untill joseph became great in Egypt.

Genesis  37:34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.  37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

The reward of unrighteousness is so great, it is better to be righteous and live in peace than to be unrighteous and live in fear, agony and destroy the plans of God for your life and the generations that ought to come out of you.

Have you been deceitful?, have you been unrighteous?, have you been living your life to oppress others?, now is the time to repent, else the judgment of God is coming upon you soon.

Jeremiah  22:13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

Everything you do has a reward, no matter how long it may be delayed, your punishment can never be denied, except you  repent.

The Lord is calling, will you pick the call, or wait for his rod of punishment?

Think about it.

God bless you.
