Disadvantages of Disunity
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Disunity is disagreement and conflict within a group. This can exist in a family, group of friends, a church or group of people living together as one nation, disunity could be caused by lack of love, hardness of the heart, unwillingness to compromise, pride and envy
In the church of God today, there exist disunity which was birth by pride, envy, self-gain, lack of focus on God and the truth. These has resulted to doctrinal differences and several contradictory teachings.
It was not so in the begining, the church of Christ was once united in love, and they manifest the power of the Holy Spirit, no one seems to be above the other, they all lived as one.
Acts 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
The church has lost the consciousness of the spirit in the understanding that disunity is one of the tool the devil is using to fight against the ever united Church of Christ James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Wherever there is disunity, there will be envying, strife and confusion, there will exist all works of the flesh and the devil, we tend to establish ourselves as the best yet we harbour hatred and bitterness against each other. Where there is disunity, there can never be love.
Disunity has brought so much pain, regret and untold destructions among the Brethren today...
1. Disunity causes lack of God's presence.
Our God is love and the same love He has reciprocated unto us through His son, He does not stay where there is disunity or confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.. Wherever there is disunity, God's presence becomes absent.
God's presence has left some homes because of disunity, it has left some churches because of conflicts and fight against doctrinal differences, it has withheld answers to our national prayers
2. Disunity invites the devil and its host.
Where there is confusion and disunity, devil establish his kingdom by registering his intent in the life of everyone through strive, hatred, bitterness, pride and all other works of the flesh, disunity can lead to murder in some cases.
3. Vain Worship
Matthew 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
It is so sad today that even in our disunity and conflict that exist among us, we still want to please God by our act of worship. But it is hard to know that most of our worships before God are not acceptable.
We cannot deceive God even if we deceive man, our offering, worship, praises, sacrifices of prayer can never be acceptable before God if we harbor disunity, conflict and hatred among ourselves.
4. Devoured Brethren
If we love and serve one another, the church will prosper, but if we bite and devour one another, we will eat each other up.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
Brethren fight against each other for selfish gain and self exultation, this as latter led to the state of the nation we have today, the church that Suppose to be the channel of love to the society has now become the root of bitterness.
1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
We can never experience the manifestation of the day of pentecost if the church still continue in disunity and hatred among each other
We cannot have a safe society and a united nation if the church fail to acknowledge the love of Christ which manifest in unity.
Disunity can lead to hell.
Let the church unite together in love, peace and harmony, let every homes be reunited, by this our worship, praise and sacrifices will be pleasing to God and we will have a safe nation.
Let love rule.
