Consequences of Backbiting
Psalms 101:5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.
Backbiting is to say mean or spiteful things about a person, such as someone who is not present, it is speaking negatively about a person to another in other to attack their character, reputation or integrity.
Often time we are always quick to judge the sin of fornication, adultery, lies, murder and stealing, but put little concern about backbiting, whereas the sin of backbiting can send one to hell just as others can
The results of backbiting are horrendous: it brings Division, strife, suspicion, hatred, and enmity among brethren, this is the works of the devil.
Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure. (Psalm 101:5) ,
this is the judgment of God on anyone who backbite another, God will not spare those who speaks evil against another behind their back, those who speaks lies in other to deform the image of another. The anger of the Lord is always on them.
Consider the life of Haman,
Esther 3:8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
He conceded indignation against the Jews because of Mordecai, he speaks evil against them before the King and sort to destroy everyone of them. Such act was an act of backbiting which invites the wrath of God upon his life.
Esther 7:9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
Every of his plan against Mordecai and the Jews came to nought and it was turned back against him just as he has planned it. Such is the consequences of backbiting another.
Are you not the same today?
Because you wanted to gain favour before your superior boss, you begin to backbite your fellow Colleague who has done you no wrong, the anger of God is coming upon you.
Because they succeeded more than you, so you begin to backbite, blackmail, and tell stories that does not exist against them to another, so people can see them as evil, remember the anger of God is coming against you.
Your backbiting against another has denied the goodness they deserve, your own goodness also will be withheld except you repent and make restitution.
Backbiting closes doors of heaven against one.
Backbiting is unrecognised act of the devil
Backbiting can withheld God's blessing upon you and stop your prayers from answering.
Backbiting can lead you to hell if you die without repentance.
Repent today and desist from the act of backbiting, those you backbite will always be greater than you, while your own life diminish into thin air. Remember Haman.
Repent today, tomorrow may be too late.
