What God Requires
Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Prophet, Micah was called to bring God’s people back around to God and His heart. They had lost their way. They became distracted and as a result of there wandering away, they were completely missing God. So, Micah preached and called to people to return.
In their ignorance, they had allowed greed to creep into their hearts and it began to consume their lives. These things start off small, a little bit of compromise, a little here and a little there.
They mixed worship of Jehovah with worship for Baal. Baal was considered the fertility god. They worshipped Baal, so that they would prosper. So, the crops and animals would multiply. They compromised their worship of God so they could have easier lives.
Furthermore, their hearts hardened towards each other and they started stealing and swindling each other out of their land. The rich Lorded over the poor
But God spoke through prophet Micah to bring sanity and repentance to the people, first by examining their life and understanding the requirements of God from them.
God is not a wicked God, and His demands from us is in no way too hard for man to do. All He requires from man is for the benefit of man.
Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
In God's desire to have man back to himself after the fall of Adam, all He requires from us is to do justly, not perverting judgment, having a clear conscience and upholding the truth.
Also to love mercy, never to do wickedly to another, showing kindness and love to everyone around, and to walk humbly before Him.
Walking humbly before God requires man's total submission to His laws and commandments, never to be of a proud heart, as the Lord resist the proud, to honour God in all ways and fear Him.
Non of these should be too hard for any man to do if we truly wish to be on the Lord's side... And it would be good for us to be on His side because Satan is no a merciful master.
Today, re-examine yourself, compare and contrast the demands of God with your lifestyle, which ever is missing, ensure to make amends, so you can have a purposeful and peaceful life in God.
God bless you.
