Charge your Children

1 Chronicles  28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

As humans, Our individual lives are filled with defining moments.  moment we decide to become a believer in Christ. The moment we realize that we have met the person we want to marry. The happy occasion when our first child is born. The day of our retirement, among others.

These defining moments are important because it is during these times that the course of our lives changes affecting everything and everyone around us.

When David was old and at the end of his reign, he handed the kingdom over to his son Solomon. This was a final "defining moment" for David and one of the first for Solomon. During this important exchange there was a charge that David made to Solomon.

King david was able to reflect all his life journey with the help of Jehovah who made all his success possible.  When he went out to face and defeat Goliath. He went from being an obscure shepherd boy to a national celebrity.

When Saul died and he became king. He took on responsibility for the entire nation, not just the band of rebels he led while hiding out from Saul.

And as he is passing on to the great life beyond, he charged his son to continue in the relationship with God who gave him all the success he attained.

King david did not hide the truth from his son, if he should forsake the God who has graciously chosen him, he would be cut off and cast away forever.

The question is, what charge will you give your children or are you giving your children as they are aging in the society.

King david have a God he's so sure of, what God are you revealing to your children?, even The God you chose to believe in, are you confident enough to tell your children you have been fully obedient to Him and they should follow in the same step.?

Many parents are disgrace to themselves not to talk of their children. The legacies you are leaving behind are adultery, lies, deceit, bribery and corruption etc. You have been a disgrace to heaven and earth and even your children.

King david reminded solomon his son of the purpose of God for his life.  1 Chronicles  28:10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

As a parent, God has revealed what your children will become in their future, what He wants to make out of their life. But in your selfish interest you have rebranded the will of God for them because His will is parallel to what you want your children to become.

God has chosen your children to be vessels in His vineyard, but because of the society, you have chosen your interest for them. You have failed God and also failed your children because whatever difficulties they experience in the new journey you set for them wil all be on you.

Charge your children in the ways of God and their purpose in Him, else the society will make whom God did not want them to become.

You are their guardian, don't disappoint God, and don't disappoint your children.

God bless you.
