Reward of Rebellion
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
God instructed King Saul to totally destroy the land of Amalek, all living things must not be spared, both humans and animals. This was the reward for their evil act against the children of Israel on their way to the land of caanan from Egypt.
He went as instructed by God, he destroyed all the citizens of the land only to spare their king and the best of their sheep, fat oxen, fatlings and lambs which he thought would be good for sacrifice unto God.
His disobedience to God's word is an act of Rebellion, God is never happy with anyone who does contrary to His words, will, commands and instructions.
Saul was punished for his actions, his kingdom was divided and taken from him and his generation to come.
Some other rewards of Rebellion by God to these who rebel against His words includes
Those who rebel are delivered into the hands of their enemies. Nehemiah 9:26
The rebellious dwell in a dry land. Psalms 68:6.
If you rebel against the Lord’s commandments, the hand of the Lord will be against you. 1 Samuel 12:14-15.
Rebellion can cut short your life and ministry.
The Holy Spirit will turn against you. Isaiah63:10.
Lucifer was cast out of Heaven because of his rebellion against God, he was the first being to rebel, and does makes man to rebel in the same manner towards God. Ezekiel 28:11-19, Isaiah 14:12-14.
Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land because he had carried out the commands of God out without following God's set rules. Number 27:14.
Jonah was swallowed by the big fish because he fled to Tashis contrary to God's will for him to go and preach to the people of Nineveh Jonah 1:15-17.
Korach, a Levite, along with his accomplices, Datan and Aviram, and a bunch of Levite followers, rises up against Moses and Aaron because has chosen moses as His representative before the children of Israel. God was furious and gave them the reward of death.
Judas Iscariot hung himself because he rebelled against Jesus.Luke 22.
Gehazi went after the gifts brought by Naaman, he collected it and kept them in his tent, Unknown to him that Prophet Elisha saw him when he went after Naaman, Prophet Elisha spoke words that the leprosy that left Naaman should come upon Gehazi. So, Gehazi left his presence a leper. To be a rebel is to be an enemy to yourself, because you will miss out on benefits of obedience.
It is dangerous to rebel against the Will and Word of God and to turn away from His plans, for there is no real liberty in rebellion. Anyone who rebel against God will be rejected by Him in all areas of life.
if you have rebelled against God, it is not too late. Our God is merciful. If you cry out to Him, He’ll save you. Psalms 107.
