God's Everlasting Covenant
Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Father Abraham was regarded as a man of faith and a friend of God, he walked with God blindly and was blessed by it.. His life experience is enough to give us wisdom on how to live our life perfectly with God in terms of obedience.
He had believed God from his childhood and at a point God told him to leave his family, country to a place He will show him. Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
This was a very strange and unpleasant instruction any man would receive from someone you trust his judgement... He was to leave his home, family, friends and colleagues, he was to leave his job, business, investment, customers and certificate to a place he has no idea... He was to leave all his inheritance he would have gotten from his father to a place that doesn't belong to him yet... What an act of obedience.
This act of obedience and total reliance on God fetch him everlasting covenant from God which is not only for him but also for the generations that will come out of Him.
God can't have made any covenant with Abraham if he wasn't faithful at first, he passed through alot of wilderness experience (temptations) before he was able to inherit those covenant from God. And the covenant was passed unto his seeds and generation
If Christian's today were to be Abraham, will they be able to inherit good things for their seeds not to talk of generation.
We find ourselves in different aspects of life today, in the next two decades when our children will look back, will they be able to appreciate us or the other way round for the life we live and the heritage we leave behind?
Enoch was a man after God's heart, he will surely have been faithful in the past or his parent for him to be a man after God's heart. He saw no death in his life time because of the intimacy he has with God.
Gehazi's generations to come would be told the reason for their leprosy was the covetousness of their ancestor called Gehazi, who couldn't look away over change of cloths and pieces of silver. It will be a sad reminder for life.
What legacy are you leaving being for the coming generation, the children of Israel are always proud to call the God of Abraham whenever they pray, it does not just come easy, someone paid the sacrifice by a wise decision.
The decision you make today will either bring peace or sorrow to your generations to come.
God bless you.
