Abide in Me

John  15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Christ was admonishing His disciples and  anyone who will make Him as Lord and saviour the need for them to be mutually connected with Him.

He is the vine, He is the one that gives life and He is the one that enables the branches on Him to produce fruit. Without Him we can do nothing so it is imperative that we stay connected to the true vine.

Jesus Christ gave the condition for answered prayer. If the Apostles remained obedient to His commandments. They would thus abide in Him and He in them. This mutual abiding, therefore, would be the condition upon which their request would be answered by Jesus

Our prayers becomes unanswered and our request withheld when we fail to abide in Christ and He in us

Allowing Christ Jesus to abide in you is by allowing His word to fill your mind, heart, soul and emotions with His perspective. Paul wrote, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly with all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with songs and hymns and spiritual songs. Singing and making melody in your hearts and whatever you do in word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Col. 3:16,17)

The branch cannot bear fruit unless it gains all of its minerals, nutrients and support from the Vine. Too many of us take our relationship with Jesus for granted and fail to appropriate the rich reservoir of resources that are available to those who gain a deeper spiritual overflow of His Life into ours.

Allowing Christ to abide in us means that we allow Him to speak to us. Through the Holy Spirit He convicts, redirects and reminds us of essential truth that is necessary to remain in the center of His will.

It is not enough to merely think about His word, we must allow it to transform us more into the image of Jesus Christ. But this also sheds light on what it means for the words of Jesus to abide in us.

Many of us after receiving little grace from God, we tend to forsake Him and follow our selfish desires, we do not care what Christ says concerning our life anymore, His words in our life becomes less priority, by this, we become withered because we have disconnected ourselves from the source of our spiritual nutrients.

There is no way we can enjoy the fullness of God's grace if we do not allow Him to abided in us and we in Him.

Abide in Christ today and let Him abide in you, only then can you receive anything you asked for.

God bless you.
