Vessels unto Honor

2 Timothy  2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. Vessels are either a container such as a bowl or a jug, a hollow container, especially one used to hold liquid, such as a bowl or cask. Vessels are often made of clay by the porters after series of intense molding and designing. The biblical meaning of a vessel denotes a person whom God calls and uses, a person whom God endowed and commissioned for a mission. As Christ died on the cross of calvary and resurrected on the third day, anyone who believes in Him and is saved has  automatically become a vessel unto God in this generation God is absolutely pure and desires that His children be of the same quality too.1Pet 1: 15-16 ; Matthew 5:48. The Almighty God cannot compromise this standard if He has to find a pure vessel to use. Apostle Paul's illustration teaches that among the disciples there are those who are known by

A New Creature

2 Corinthians  5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Our new identify in Christ comes with a full package of being recreated by God which is entirely different from the previous life we have been living.  We must first understand that a new life in Christ  is in fact a creation, something created by God. John 1:13 tells us that this new birth was brought about by the will of God. We did not inherit the new nature from our parents or decide to re-create ourselves anew.  Neither did God simply clean up our old nature; He created something entirely fresh and unique. The new creation is completely new, brought about from nothing, just as the whole universe was created by God from nothing. Only the Creator could accomplish such a feat.  Second, “old things have passed away.” The “old” refers to everything that is part of our old nature—natural pride, love of sin, reliance on works, and our former opinions

Decency in all things

1 Corinthians  14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order. Apostle Paul was speaking to the the Corinthians for their extreme pride in having spiritual gifts and their childish behavior in the congregation.  The Corinthians were so self-absorbed that they behaved in some sort of uncontrolled manner that was different than other churches.  Although the Bible does not tell us exactly what they did, only that it was a misuse of their spiritual gifts and disgraceful to God. Paul gave the Corinthians this simple rule to follow to guide their actions in matters related to their worship of God. This included such things as the customs they would follow and how they would act so that they could properly glorify God and be an example for non-Christians in order to convert unbelievers. So many believers act in a disorderly character which is even alien to the unbelievers, and sadly such behaviours has crept into the house of worship of God.  From the previous verse in 1 Corinthians 14 an

The kingdom of Heaven

Matthew  25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Jesus wouldn't want us to be ignorant of the sole desire of God concerning His kingdom. He expressly explain through a parable to His disciples and His followers.  It was like a master going on a journey who called his servants and entrust them with talents to trade with till his coming. This is  a representation of  Christ who called those He claimed, those that  had identified themselves by their submission to His will.  He gave them talents, Jesus made use of the  monetary unit to refer to the abilities or opportunities that one has which they can use to the glory of God. God has given every man the ability and opportunity and the responsibility that can be used to His glory for the time they are on earth.  Jesus' audience here is not limited to the religious  leaders who has been given responsibility to spiritually lead His peop

God's Everlasting Covenant

Genesis  17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. Father Abraham was regarded as a man of faith and a friend of God, he walked with God blindly and was blessed by it.. His life experience is enough to give us wisdom on how to live our life perfectly with God in terms of obedience. He had believed God from his childhood and at a point God told him to leave his family, country to a place He will show him. Genesis  12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: This was a very strange and unpleasant instruction any man would receive from someone you trust his judgement... He was to leave his home, family, friends and  colleagues, he was to leave his job, business, investment, customers and certificate to a place he has no idea... He was

He will Straighten all crooked ways

Isaiah  45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: God had great plans for his people in exile, He had wonderful expectations for them, He had a magnificent purpose for them, But as it was, the people were not patient with God, They grumbled about their condition, they questioned God’s ways, they even quarreled with God because they were walking down block of captivity… Little did they know that God Was Right Around the Corner   In His wisdom  He  choses  cyrus, even being a gentile  as a tool to deliver His people out of bondage, nevertheless, it won't come easy. But because He is God's anointed and a chosen vessel, God is right there to go before him. There is a saying that says "if it is God's will, then it is God's Bill", very true of the saying, whoever is called by God is guaranteed of His total support, as long as such person remains in Him.  As a chose

Result of waiting patiently

Psalms  40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.  If we are going to be honest with ourselves, we all hate to wait. In fact, more often than not, we say something like, " I can't believe this is taking so long; it's costing me time I don't have!".  That's because most of us consider waiting time to be wasting time. But it's not so with our God. Anytime you wait on God, He works, even when you can't see what He is doing. God is always coordinating the events of the heavens and the earth to accomplish His purpose for the life of His children. King David expressed his joyful heart in God's intervention after waiting patiently on God. He affirms that it is best to wait on God for deliverance or breakthrough than to rush into options not profiting.  Joseph would have opted for Portipha's wife idea of being a means by which his star will shine. But according to God's will for him, it was never the directio

Let not your heart be Troubled

John  14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. The disciples have just heard Jesus speak of His death and departure. Peter have just heard of the betrayal by Judas. And then, peter was told of his denial of Jesus. In the discussion that follows, Jesus sought to encourage the eleven disciples. Above their fears and troubles, they must believe in God. The disciples must trust God and in Jesus, though their troubles and challenges may not be immediate, but they must understand that all things will work together for good. They would have peace of mind only by trusting that God is at work in the events that were about to transpire. They must trust Him who is in control.  Christ did not promised a earth without challenges, troubles, heartbreaks, disappointments, rejection, failure and even sickness. But what He promised is that He will be with us through all this period of our life, if we can trust Him enough. You have been facing spiritual battle here and

I will build my Church

Matthew  16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The testimony of Peter that Christ is the true son of God is the begining of the foundation of the church of Christ. He is the rock of ages on which the church must be built. The church which means ekklisia refers to people, not the building or the cathedral or houses we build. The church is the called out assembly of God's people. They are called out of the world by their belief that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. No man can take credit of building the church of God, the church is built on a Message, the salvation brought by Christ, not a MAN. Men come and go, succeed and fail, but the true revelation of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church The church is the only thing that cannot be shaken, Individual saints and local assemblies may have problems or faced with persecution, but the church is as sol

The place of a Comforter

John  16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. One of the departing messages Christ preached to encourage His disciples and followers before the Crucification was the promise of the Comforter, the Holy spirit. It is necessary for Christ to depart from this world in other for the work of our salvation to be complete.  But He wouldn't leave them without a comforter, a guide, the spirit of God who will teach and communicate the mind of God to them.  The word comforter in this context means “called to one’s side”. It is as Jesus is saying there is going to be one who will be called to their  side.   We have the Holy Spirit who stands beside us in our darkest moments.  it was more important to the disciples who was about to lose the physical presence of Jesus. They were grieving and this promise of a Comforter was a promise of assurance that they

A Contrite Heart

Psalms  34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. A contrite heart or spirit is when a person’s inner man or will has been broken so they no longer run after the things they want, but surrender to the things that God wants. A broken heart or will says I will no longer do this my way or on my terms but I will surrender to your ways. Those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit are willing to do anything and everything that God asks of them. They have no regret forsaking all for God, when they make the decision of doing God's will, there is no turning back.  Father Abraham was a man with a contrite heart, his total belief and faith in God distinguish him from all who have served God.  He was instructed to leave his father's house, His business, relations, inheritance and country to a place he would be shown. He never doubted the voice of God, he acted swiftly in obedience  On the other phase when God asked him

Abide in Me

John  15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Christ was admonishing His disciples and  anyone who will make Him as Lord and saviour the need for them to be mutually connected with Him. He is the vine, He is the one that gives life and He is the one that enables the branches on Him to produce fruit. Without Him we can do nothing so it is imperative that we stay connected to the true vine.  Jesus Christ gave the condition for answered prayer. If the Apostles remained obedient to His commandments. They would thus abide in Him and He in them. This mutual abiding, therefore, would be the condition upon which their request would be answered by Jesus Our prayers becomes unanswered and our request withheld when we fail to abide in Christ and He in us  Allowing Christ Jesus to abide in you is by allowing His word to fill your mind, heart, soul and emotions with His perspective. Paul wrote, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you

A man after God's heart

1 Samuel  13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.  13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee. The first desire of God in the creation of  man is to have a special being who would be obedient to His words and commands, who will govern over all other creations He has made.  This He does while creating Adam and Eve, He gave them dominion over all that has been crated before, and also with clear instructions of what to do and not to do.  Man fell off from the grace of God into sin, and ever since God has been looking for men who will be obedient to Him In the life of the Israelites, they desire a king, but as much as it was not God's desir

Not by Might, nor by Power

Zechariah  4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Power and might are essential in life to get things done, it is the momentum why which we attain the peak of our desire in life and in this world  But in God's definition, power and might does not guarantee success and greatness both in life and in the spirit, it is by His grace and spirit that brings breakthrough and deliverance.  Zerubabell has just been given a civic role as a leader in the land of Israel, as he was a devoted man to God, he received the divine assurance. He was never to be afraid of mountains and enemies that stand before him. He needed no human power or might to succeed, but by the spirit of the living God.  This kind of assurance was evident in the life of David the shepherd who stood before Goliath a warrior from birth, David didn't approached him through his own power or mi

The Perfect Man

Psalms  37:37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.  37:38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.  37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.  37:40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. The perfect man in this context does not totally speaks of a man without sin or has never sin, but is a man whose desire and mind is channel towards that of God. A man who has the  mind of God, thinks like God and always willing and ready to obey Him  God was giving an assurance to everyone who is perfect in his sight as living righteously by comparing the life and end of whoever that lives in Him and someone who choose to do wickedly.   The wicked oppress the righteous, but the Lord delivers those who are His. By their knowledge of His deliverance, the righteous

The Unacceptable Offering

Genesis  4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.  4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:  4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. As much as God demand offerings from man, not all offerings are acceptable before Him, no matter how big, how beautiful, how eye-catching it may be, if it does not meet the demands of God, it will be rejected. Such was the case of Cain and Abel's offering before God, they both brought offerings from thier substance according to their capability. But their heart were different, as God sees beyond the eyes, God rejected Cain's offerings because of the evil that resides in his heart. God abhors the sacrifice where the heart is not  found. If you want to find out Cain's condition of heart you will find it

Be sure of whom you serve

1 Samuel  17:42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. The story in the verse above is an interesting story that brought David to the limelight. The Philistines had gathered  against the Israelite in battle, a leader from both sides was fight each other to know the winner and the strongest between both.  King Saul had tried all he could, none of His commander could come out and confront Goliath, even the king is in dismay and perpetual fear and disgrace.  But a young unaged  boy, an unqualified, inexperience and unnoticed came out to confront this giant with track record of potential wins in battle. Their comparison was like a bush rat challenging an elephant in battle.  But as little and unexperienced as he was, he trusted a person with supernatural power, great enough to defeat a giant and warrior from birth.  He was not moved by the face of the giant, neither was he moved by his words, yet

Reward of Rebellion

1 Samuel  15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. God instructed King Saul to totally destroy the land of Amalek, all living things must not be spared, both humans and animals. This was the reward for their evil act against the children of Israel on their way to the land of caanan from Egypt. He went as instructed by God, he destroyed all the citizens of the land only to spare their king and the best of their sheep, fat oxen, fatlings and lambs which he thought would be good for sacrifice unto God. His disobedience to God's word is an act of  Rebellion, God is never happy with  anyone who does contrary to His words, will, commands and instructions. Saul was punished for his actions, his kingdom was divided and taken from him and his generation to come. Some other rewards of Rebellion by God to these who rebel against His words incl

A Circumcised Heart

Deuteronomy  30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. God spoke to Abraham and have him a painful task which signifies a renewed covenant. "This is my covenant which you shall keep between me and you and thy seed after you — every male child among you shall be circumcised. (Genesis 17:10)  The biblical explanation for this commandment states quite clearly that the circumcision acts as an outward physical sign of the eternal covenant between God and the Jewish people. God gave Abraham and his descendants the mark of circumcision as a physical reminder that they were cut out from the world, that is, set apart to serve the one, true Lord (Gen. 17:1–14).  The circumcision of the physical body does not totally transcribe to being righteous before God, on several occasions were the Jews (the circumcised) commit evil before God by worshipping other gods an

Fervent in the Spirit

Romans  12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. The coming of the Holy spirit has given us a pattern of a driven lifestyle by which we communicate with God which is different from being a natural man. Anyone who is redeemed is expected to be full of the Holyghost bringing the kingdom of God down to the heart of men and showcasing His true nature. Nevertheless, we are expected not to have a one time experience of the manifestation of the Holy spirit but to have a consistent fervency in the spirit. 1 Cor. 2: 14-15   says:  14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. NKJV This means we need to live our lives beyond the natural realm.  You’re not the natural man.  The Spiritual IN YOU controls the natural.  You either control the natural or it co

Righteous and Unjust

Revelation  22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. The judgement of God is coming very soon, the time is nearer than we expected, a time the earth will be visited with the anger of God on the wicked. His judgment will come on all, whether you are just, unjust, holy  or unholy, righteous or unrighteous, everyone will be rewarded by God according to the works of our hand.  Every man have the tendency to live life according to his wish, God has given man the freewill to chose either to do right or to do wrong, but your decision will determine where you will end up after this life. You can decide to be righteous, living a life according to the character of Christ, becoming obedient to God's words and direction, being faithful with God and among men, living peaceably with everyone around and showcasing the love of God to everyone

Whom shall I send?

Isaiah  6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. At the  time of the vision of prophet Isaiah, the people of Judah had gone astray from the will and purpose of God. It was during the time of national uncertainty that Isaiah was reaffirmed as a prophet of God.  God knows the heart of those who will answer His call to preach  to His people. He knew the heart of Isaiah. He knew that Isaiah would respond to this vision in the manner that is herein revealed  He was commissioned to the spiritually insensitive people, a people who were dull of hearing. They were dull of hearing because they had no interest in hearing the word of God preached.  They had no concern for what God has to say in reference to their behaviour. They are self minded, and had gone deep in sin.  In this time, God was looking for a man capable of speaking His truth to the people irrespective of who they are and what he(Isaiah) must endure b

Charge your Children

1 Chronicles  28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. As humans, Our individual lives are filled with defining moments.  moment we decide to become a believer in Christ. The moment we realize that we have met the person we want to marry. The happy occasion when our first child is born. The day of our retirement, among others.  These defining moments are important because it is during these times that the course of our lives changes affecting everything and everyone around us.  When David was old and at the end of his reign, he handed the kingdom over to his son Solomon. This was a final "defining moment" for David and one of the first for Solomon. During this important exchange there was a charge that Dav

While man sleep

Matthew  13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Sleep is a natural state of rest for any being, Every normal person must engage in physical sleep to allow the body rest in order to be alive, and also to enable the body to be in constant continuous growth. On the other hand, there is the spiritual sleep, this the  state of a spiritual person of not  being conscious of the devices of the devil and his agents around him. This is the most dangerous stage of any believer, because that is the center point the devil is waiting for to strike, because he knows such believer has loosen guard. During the physical sleep, man seize to feel anything around him, almost all the sense organs will be at rest or hibernation, so also is the spiritual sleep, when a believer is asleep, there will be break in the communication link with God, such fellow will lack divine revelations  If Samson had known he would be disconnected from God that day, he wouldn

Abide in Christ

John  15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Branches get the nutrients that they need to live from the tree. Branches cannot live or grow without the tree. Without the tree, there will never be leaves on the branches. If the branch comes from a fruit tree, there will never be fruit on the branch if it is separated from the tree That same thing is true about our life with Jesus. Listen to what Jesus said, "I am the vine and you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." To “abide” is to live, continue, or remain; so, to abide in Christ is to live in Him or remain in Him. When a person is saved, he or she is described as being “in Christ” (Romans 8:1; 2, held secure in a permanent relationship. Therefore, abiding in Christ is not a special level of Christian experience, rather, it is the position of

Do not fear Rejection

Psalms  27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. Rejection is difficult no matter the circumstances in which it comes. But as believers in Jesus, we stand in a long line of those who have all, in one way or another, faced rejection for their commitment to follow Christ. Some have lost their families, others their reputations, and even others their lives. The most difficult rejection of all time is that of the parent, those you trusted so much with your heart, king David was able to re-establish his love and assurance in God that, even if his father and mother should forsake him, God is rightly there to accept him  In one way or the other we have faced rejections, some from our close relatives, some at work, some comes as a result of our integrity and denial to compromise our standard.  Many as preacher of the Gospel has faced rejection for speaking the truth, many even paid with thier dear lives.  But the good news is we are not to be afraid of any

Be a productive citizen

Titus 3:1 REMIND PEOPLE to be submissive to [their] magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be prepared and willing to do any upright and honorable work, Being a believer in Christ Jesus truly restructure our life from the world of sin to a new life of hope and eternity with God. We are in this world, but we are not of this world, we have been bought with a price.  Nevertheless, as much as we live our life daily in this world as Christ representatives, it does not stop us from being a productive and patriotic  citizen to ourselves, family and the nation we live in. Romans  12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; The disciples of Jesus must be known for being diligent workers. When one has a zealous spirit within, he will manifest active service for the lord. But we must not limit this character of spirit to those things we would call service to the Lord. It must be extended to the World around us. We just be diligent on the works we do, in our offic

What God Requires

Micah  6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Prophet, Micah was called to bring God’s people back around to God and His heart. They had lost their way. They became distracted and as a result of there wandering away, they were completely missing God. So, Micah preached and called to people to return. In their ignorance, they had allowed greed to creep into their hearts and it began to consume their lives. These things start off small, a little bit of compromise, a little here and a little there. They mixed worship of Jehovah with worship for Baal. Baal was considered the fertility god. They worshipped Baal, so that they would prosper. So, the crops and animals would multiply. They compromised their worship of God so they could have easier lives.  Furthermore, their hearts hardened towards each other and they started stealing and swindling each other out of their land. Th

Divine Support

Nehemiah  2:3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire? It was a time of captivity for the Jews and the city of Jerusalem, many had been taken captive and those who remain are in great  distress and reproach  The land has become desolate, the walls were broken down and the city gate destroyed by fire. What more evil can a man or people experience than this? Nehemiah was a devoted Jews to the laws of God, he was borne in captivity but never forgets his root. On hearing the news of the desolate city, he wept bitterly and mourned several days  As a man, he has no power to effect a change, he does not even have the freedom of his own because he's a prisoner serving in the King's court as a cupbearer, but he resulted to seek the face of God in time of his distress and powerlessness, he fasted and prayed.  Only those who ar

God loves you

John  3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God's action toward man was the result of love, therefore we love Him because He first loved us. No love can any man give to another greater than the love that made God to offer His only son as a sacrifice for the redemption of humans. His love extends from generation to generations, as much as any who would come under His leadership. Even when you are yet sinner, wallowing in sin, His love had to be manifested by the death of His son for those who were unworthy. As someone who has not known Him, or someone falling and rising in sin, Irrespective of the gravity of sin you may have committed as at now, His love is great enough to forgive you and give you a clean sheet of life to begin again. Has He spoken to you of His promises towards your life, either in his words or through His prophets, and they are yet to come to pass?, does it
