The bitterness of the forbidden Fruit
Jeremiah 4:18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
When God created man, He gave him a clear warning never to eat of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and on the day he eat from it, he shall surely die.
Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Eve was tempted, her presence was drawn to the forbidden tree, and she was made to see it's fruit lustfully. She came to the conclusion that the fruit is good for food, pleasant to the eyes and it can make one wise.
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
But she never knew that by eating just a single fruit of the tree will bring the following consequences to her and her husband .. 1. The glory of God was taken away from them which is the consciousness of the spirit, their eyes were open and they became naked. 2. The pain in farming to get food. 3. The pain in child birth. 4. it cost them the whole garden and eventually 5. death. These are what the whole world is suffering from till today.
Though the fruit was so little, and it took them few minutes to chew and consume, but it cost them their whole life time..It is always pleasurable to commit sin, but the consequences is always bitter and awful and the scares doest wipe off.
Forbidden fruits are the temptations to sin that parades itself around us... As long as we live in this world, there will always be forbidden trees and fruits around us, we may not go towards the forbidden tree (as we pray, lead us not into temptations), but it's fruit may be plucked and brought to us. (our prayer here becomes, deliver us from evil)
King David who was suppose to be at the war front tarried at the Palace and upon taking a walk saw a forbidden fruit, the nakedness of another man's wife, instead to walk away, he desired it to be good to behold and one to make one's bed worm, he went for it and lay with her.... His single action made him become a murderer, a father of a dead child, and his family becomes a war zone.
Are you not also admiring the forbidden fruit around you today?, or have you eaten from it... It may be sweet to your mouth, but it is a poison that kills in the belly.
A forbidden fruit of adultery will kill your peace, drain your finances and destroy your home.
The forbidden fruit of stealing will destroy your future, cripple your destiny and could also make you a murderer.
The forbidden fruit of hypocrisy will robb you of your happiness, replace it with bitterness and distance you from divine helpers.
The list of forbidden fruits are endless which includes the following, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness and revelling.
The consumption of a forbidden fruit has never resulted in everlasting joy, though it may give you a temporary pleasure but once its poison begin to surface, it eats up the body and spirit just like an acid feeds on the flesh.
But God in His infinity mercy has given us the grace and privilege to be admitted into the emergency ward of restoration for a soul saving surgery which can be done by the one and only competent surgeon Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Christ can save you if only you are able to confess to him what kind of forbidden fruit you have taken and be ready for your surgery. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. A patience that needs to be treated need not to be secret to his doctor... Christ Jesus is your doctor, upon up to Him and be saved.
Therefore, let everyone who is yet to eat of the forbidden fruit be careful and be conscious in the spirit, the devil will never stop to deceive, you may not walk towards the forbidden tree just as Eve did, but he can pluck it's fruit and bring it to you to save you your transport... But it is in a bid to destroy your life and soul even to hell..
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled
The bitterness of a forbidden fruit is greater that it's pleasure, don't live to regret it latter, it is better to distance away totally than to play or take shade under the forbidden tree.
