Painful Regret

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Regret is a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over an occurrence or something that one has done or failed to do. Regret comes when you finally finds out the truth about a situation. regret occurs because we do not know all things and we do make mistakes. As we age, we often look back on decisions made in youth and regret our choices.

Many people regret their actions in the scriptures after realising the truth or after they began to experience the consequences of their actions.

Cain regretted killing Abel his brother, because of unaccepted sacrifice, the death of Abel did not make him the acceptable one before God. After God's pronouncement of judgement upon him, he pleaded that he should not be killed but became a wonderer.

Moses regretted his action of not fully acting according to the instruction of God of bringing water from the rock. God had to put a stop on his journey, only to behold the city he had laboured for, for many years from afar. He pleaded for mercy from God in prayers but his request was not favoured.

Judas regretted his action for betraying Jesus Christ his Lord, by selling him off to the priest, which orchestrated the crucification, he didn't live to spend the proceeds of the transaction.

All these regrets can not be compared to the most painful regret to come... The regret of losing the kingdom of God.

As much as we do not know all things, and do not know the future, but Christ who is the only way to the father gave us a clearer picture of what will happen in latter times.

Imagine working in a company tirelessly day and night and at the end of the month which you are expected to collect your wages, you noticed your name is not on the payroll, neither were you recognized by the company that  you are their staff... Upon  investigation you realise  you had been relieved of your job from the previous month due to your misdeed which you fail to repent from, but think nobody knows.. How regrettable would that be?

Such are people Jesus christ is talking about in Matthew  7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

They profess Christ, they perform signs and wonders, they preach the gospel, but they themselves were not identified by Christ... People see them as a righteous, godly and  spirit filled servant of God, but their inner disposition were full of evil. They failed to repent and on the Last day, they expect a reward from Christ. But He will say... V23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The word has been preached to you, it is being preached again, and will still be preached, through several means. It will always be preached in all places inhabited by humans to serve as a testament for everyone, so no one would say he/she never hear the word. Matthew  24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Revelation  20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

This will be the occurrence of the end, when Christ shall come in his glory. Joy shall fill the heart of those who died in faithfulness and righteousness, upholding the truth of the Gospel to the end and many who are still standing in faith who shall witness the second coming alive.

But the wicked, sinners, and those who are of the devil shall have the most painful Regret, for they shall be cast into the lake of fire which is the second death.

Acts  3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

The time is now, the time to make the best decision, to make the right choice... The time for you to repent of all your sins and receive the new nature of Christ Jesus.

Some regrets can be corrected in this world, but the regret on the last day can never be corrected and is everlasting.

Today is the day to repent, tomorrow may be too late.

God bless you.
