Renewing God's Grace
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
From several perspectives, many see grace as a special favour bestowed upon someone, many understand grace as an anointing, gift, or mantle, and many see grace as a yardstick to commit sin. but sadly that is not grace,
The grace of God is the totality of God, it entails mercy, love, power, salvation and might of God. By this grace, a believer grow more in God and His mysteries as it becomes unveiled
As much as we have received this grace through the sacrificial death and resurrection of our lord Jesus Christ, many still find their way out of this grace given to all men freely by God, just as we lost it in the garden of Eden through the deceit of Satan.
As a believer on the pilgrimage of salvation with heaven in view, we must constantly renew the grace of God in us so as not to be totally lost from His presence into the darkness of this world.
How to renew the grace of God.
1. Through the understanding of the Scripture
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
The grace of God that brings salvation has given us the understanding that, by denying ungodliness, worldly lust, livingly righteously and godly in this perverse and wicked world will keep us in form for God and His grace becomes renewed everyday.
2. Accepting the verdict of the scripture
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Another way to renew the grace of God in one's life is to live diligently according to the commands and instructions of God made available in the scriptures. Many understands the scripture but finds it difficult to follow. Such are the kinds that knows the truth but fail to let the truth set them free from the bondage of sin. They avoid corrections at every point in time... And by this they become short of the grace of God.
3. Humbleness of the heart.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Total submissions to God is another way to renew the grace of God on one's life. Submission includes accepting the will of God for our life, following His directions, yielding to every of His commands and continual standing on His promises by faith.
4. Giving ourselves to fasting and prayer.
Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
The disciples wanted to grow in the power of God which is an extension of the grace of God bestowed upon men, but Christ gave them an understanding that, such can not happen if not by denying one's flesh in fasting and consistent prayers.
Fasting and prayer is a means of communication with God, which involves we speaking to God and also listening to all He has to tell us. By this, we will be spiritually conscious and also grow in the grace of the living God.
5. Fleeing from sin.
2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
There is no way there won't be temptations to sin by the devil in other to break our communication with God. But we must flee and not embrace it, thinking we are spiritual enough not to be tempted. 1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Aside fleeing, let us follow righteousness in everything we do, having faith in God for all his promises, engaging in charity and living peaceably with all men.
Above all, let us with gladness rejoice in the Lord for His grace, and holding fast the truth that has been given to us never to lose it to the devil through any appearance of evil that may look appealing to us.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice evermore. 5:17 Pray without ceasing. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. 5:20 Despise not prophesyings. 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Your confidence of having the fullness of the grace of God is not certain if you do not walk diligently in the wisdom God has revealed in the scriptures.
God bless you.
