MARRIAGE is an institution of God, and to be in one is a beautiful thing. God laid the foundation of marriage in the garden of Eden after careful observation of Adam that he needed an helpmeet. For it is not good for him to be alone.
For this following reasons God establish marriage, being a union between two. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. [10]For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up [11]Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? [12]Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Popularity Passes Away
Everyone wish to have that picture perfect marriage without hitch or hitting on the rock just as God desires, but the truth is, not everyone actually got that marriage their soul longed for. Nevertheless, there are still many marriages working out fine and still standing the test of time.
Many believed once they accept the will of God for their life there won't be any problem. But sadly... The will of God is not a determinant of a successful marriage but a foundation of a fruitful and successful one
Receiving the will of God for your life does not equate having a marriage without challenges, it does not mean the marriage cannot hit the rock, but the will of God is like a solid foundation made on the rock.
What then are the mystery behind a successful marriages today?
1. Agreement
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
A successful union starts with an agreement, both parties must be ready to be together come rain come shine, they must agree on their shortcomings and be ready to support eachother even in the most difficult time. Above all, both must be able to agree with God as He becomes the foundation which their marriage shall stand on.
2. LOVE.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
Love can be understood as a mix of emotions, behaviors, and beliefs associated with strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth, and respect for another person. Love is widely proclaimed by people from one to another, yet their actions afterwards says otherwise.
Scripturally God himself is love, and by this, he gave his only begotten Son to die for mankind...
This was the extreme of God's love for us. And as much as we accept the love given to us, we also much extend its hand towards one another.
But sadly, in the world today, love has been misunderstood, the love we claim we exhibit is only a confession of the mouth which harbor deceit in the heart.
Love is a connection of soul to soul and not body to body, in the sense that, even if the outer body becomes deformed, love will still stand.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things and it never fails
3. Guard your home with all resources you have in God.
1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The devil does not only devour a person's faith in God, but also devour godly homes he knows will bring forth kingdom generations. He goes about to destroy the beautiful institution of God through several means.
For your marriage to be successful, you have got to fight for your joke with all resources you have in God.
The resources includes faith, power of God, the scriptures, prayer and fasting... These must be done consistently even if you never experience challenges in your home.
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Having a wonderful begining in marriage and starting with God does not mean there won't be hiccups and hitches in the marriage as time passes by, because no human is perfect in all things.
If then there be misunderstanding, or flaws, it should be corrected in love and not with strive or vainglory, it should be done in humility, and allowing God to mend every broken walls if there be any.
Your marriage can be successful if you are ready to follow God's principles of marriage... You may have make mistakes in the past, it can be corrected by God, no matter how troubled the waters of your union may be, it can be calmed by God.
Say after me,
my marriage shall be successful in Jesus Christ name
I shall enjoy my marriage till death in Jesus Christ name.
