Jesus calm the Sea

Matthew  8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

After a long day of ministerial work, Jesus beckoned on the disciple to go over the other side of the town, and the only means of transportation is to go by the sea.

Not long while on the journey there arose a great storm of wind, it troubled the water and its waves beat into the ship (Matthew  8:24)

Everyone should have thought that the wind should have respected Jesus who has power over every elements of earth (air, water, fire), at least for the main time Jesus would travel on the sea.

Trouble came, the disciples were afraid, nobody wants to die, at instance they knew they have Jesus, but yet the presence of Jesus is not enough for them not to be afraid.

Jesus latter came to their rescue, challenged them of their lack of faith, rebuke the storm and declare peace unto the sea. Matthew  8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

As a believer, there will always be storms of life, that will arise to challenge your faith in Christ, it may be in your marital life, academics, career, business, ministry, among others.

The sea is your life today, and what influences your life to be troubled is the storm, before the storm in your life can be calmed, you need to...

1. Have faith in God.

Matthew  21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.  21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Having faith in God is putting your total confidence in Him, giving no room for fear, doubt or anxiety.  The children of Israel trusted God, they passed through the sea, David trusted God, he faced Goliahat in battle and won, Joshua had faith in God, the walls of Jericho fell flat before him.  Have faith in God, kill your fear and expect salvation from God.
Remember, God has not given us the spirit of fear... 2 Timothy  1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2. Surrender all to Jesus

Hebrews  12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The disciple were so afraid to death when the storm became stronger on them on the sea, but they remembered they have Jesus Christ in the boat, so they called to Him, because  they know He alone is powerful enough to save and deliver.

In the storm of life you are going through, surrender all to Jesus Christ, don't lean on your own understanding, don't put your confidence in the evil advices from friends and family...

You don't have Jesus Christ physically like the disciples, but you have Him in your heart, He's right there beside you, talk to Him in prayers, call unto him like the disciples did, He will surely answer you.

3. Wait on God.

Isaiah  40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

God works with time, His time may be different from our own time zone. So whenever it looks like God delays miracle, answers to prayers, just keep your faith alive and hope in Him. He has not forgotten you, and He will surely save you.

Do not be overwhelmed by the raging of the storm in your life, call unto Jesus who has power over all things... He will surely calm the storm in your life.

God bless you.
