Be watchful and Sober
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
God knows the mission of the devil in this world, He knows his devices through which he deceives the world and even the believers. Being a believer in Christ and living righteously according to the will of God does not mean the devil will give up on your life. He will try every possible means to win you over to himself
Jesus Christ in one of His teachings made a parable of a servant expecting the return of His master who went on a journey.
Luke 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
The master is the Lord Jesus Christ himself who has gone to prepare a place for everyone who believes in Him. The servant is every believer in this world who has been redeemed by His precious blood and are waiting for His return.
12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 12:38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
It shall be a blessing to anyone who shall remain faithful, committed to the salvation in Christ, not giving in to the deceit of the devil and the lust of this world. The Lord Christ shall made Him sit as ruler in His kingdom
12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
No one knows the hour or time the Lord Christ will come, He shall surely come like a thief in the night when no one expected. It is the duty of the man of the house to be always watchful and vigilant... So also every believers must be watchful and be at alert for Christ can return anytime or death can come when no one knows.
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
There will always be temptation that Satan will bring before the believers, it was covetousness for Judas, it was fear for Apostle Peter, but you are admonished to be watchful and prayerful... Being watchful is to be spiritually conscious at all time, being rooted in the true word of God and able to discern false teaching, false teachers and false prophets. Also being prayerful is another way to escape many temptations of the devil..
1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Do not be carried away by the things of the world, rather be rooted in the spirit and keep watch always.
