Danger in Complacency

Deuteronomy  32:15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

Complacency is a feeling of contented self-satisfaction , especially when unaware of upcoming trouble. It is an instance of self-satisfaction.

The quest of many men is to have everything in their capacity irrespective of the channel they make use, they careless to understand there might be impending danger, they depend on what they have for security, power and health, yet when the owner of the life requested for it, none of these possessions can redeem their life.

Jesus made a parable of a man who exhibited an act of complacency...
Luke  12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:  12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

The life of this man is a picture of many today who lay up treasures for themselves and concluded they have everything and nothing to worry about,

This was a man who had a lot of profits from his business, a man whose harvest is beyond his ban, a man who got more than he traded for. He has just been declared has the world wealthiest man, So he sort for more treasury in other to store up his riches and wealth.

He so much trust His economic power because he controls the economy if the whole world, He believes he has gotten the satisfaction his soul desires and now can rest for in many years there will be peace of mind, no struggle and the treasures can guarantee long life.

But in his solitude, God declares that same day his soul will be requested from him. Such is the lot of anyone who thinks he has gotten all he desires and have no respect for God the provider of all things

Being complacency is exhibiting a proud spirit... You will always glory in your power, possession and treasures stored up instead of appreciating God the giver of all things. The punishment for pride is destruction. Proverbs  29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Becoming complacency will make you to forsake God and thinks there is no God, forsaking God is forsaking your creator, forking your creator is planing for eternal destruction...

You have all to lose for being complacency, instead appreciate God the giver of all things and whose hand that holds your  life.

Appreciate God for all things you have, remember God in all  you do and acknowledge Him in all your ways.

God bless you.
