Blessed are the Merciful

Matthew  5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Being merciful is treating people with kindness and forgiveness : not cruel or harsh : having or showing mercy. : giving relief from suffering

Those who recognise thier own spiritual poverty are merciful to others. They sympathize and have pity on others. They seek to relieve the suffering of others because  He has had mercy on them in relation to their sin.

Mercy is one of the traits of God, this is by which God did not condemned man to eternal damnation rather He made a way of salvation through His son Jesus Christ to die for our sin, and by this everyone also should show mercy to fellow human.

Consider the parable of the Lord Jesus Christ of a king and his servant

Matthew  18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.  18:24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.  18:25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.  18:26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.  18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

The debtor needed to be brought to a count in order to recognise his debt, after judgment was passed, He fell to his feet an pleaded for mercy and asked for grace period to be able to fulfil his debt. The king was moved with compassion and had mercy on Him.

But the story changed when the servant came across another who owed him debt.

Matthew  18:28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.  18:29 And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.  18:30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

It was a surprise that the same servant that received mercy for his debt couldn't have mercy on the other, he rather chose to cast him into prison after so many plea.   This was contrary to the command of God on having mercy on fellow humans.

God is the king, and we are the first servant who owed the king,  we owed him while we sinned against Him, yet He had mercy on us by saving us from the debt of sin and death. And through this, we are to extend the hand of mercy to others.

Whoever that have mercy on fellow human will be showed mercy on by God. His blessings will definitely radiate on such person.

2 Samuel  22:26 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.
God shows mercy to the merciful, and guides the path of the humble.

Whatever you have become is by the grace and mercy of God, showing others the same kind gesture is returning the glory back to God.

Don't be too harsh on fellow humans, the table is still turning, you can be the giver of mercy today, and eventually become the receiver of mercy tomorrow.

Your unanswered prayers might be as a result of being merciless to your fellow humans... You do yourself more harm if you continue on the act.
