A Test of Commitment

Genesis  22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

God most time permits unsuitable or discouraging situations to come our our way, not for the reward of our sins before him but to test our commitment to Him.

This He does to reaffirm our confession of love, faith and total dependant on Him as God.

Abraham was a man of faith who passed God's test of commitment in His walk with Him. God had first told him to depart from His country home, leaving all behind and go to a place he will be showed latter in the journey... He acted accordingly as the Lord directs.

After waiting on God for a child for many years, God granted Him a child at his old age...  Yet God determines to give him the greatest test of commitment so as to approve him to be the father of faith. Genesis  22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Abraham didn't fail God, He never consider all he possess to be more valuable that the faith in has in God. He was willing to sacrifice his beloved child to God he has never seen. What a trust and believe.

Your confession of faith is not enough until your commitment is tested and approved.

On several occasions many of us claim we love God, many of us proclaim we have faith in Him, yet when there are  little challenges we mock God, rebuke Him and break our trust in Him.

As long as you determine to follow God and do all His will, He will definitely test your obedience, your patience, your faith and trust, before He can commit some of His blessing into your hands.

What is your commitment to God today? ... Is it only limited to the good times or life?  Do you not only love God when things only go well around you?...

Your commitment to God is not just in your religious activities in His sanctuary, it is not just in act of charity or level of prayers and fasting... But it is evidence in total obedience to God. The intent of your heart determines if you will pass the test of commitment or not.

Joseph passed the test of commitment while in the house of Potiphar, even when the wife wanted to lure him into fornication, Gehazi couldn't pass the test... His covetousness erased his name from the book of the prophets and got more than he bargained for.

1 Kings  8:61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

While working for and walking with God, let us make our heart perfect with the Lord our God, in exhibiting total obedience to His commandments and status.. This will give us a pass mark when the test comes.

God will test you, will you pass?
Work on it.

God bless you.
