Reward of Obedience

1 Samuel  15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Obedience to God is to hear, trust, submit and surrender to God and His word. 

God created us and places us into this world, everything we would  ever be or become is perfectly known to Him, He knows our end from the begining so He give instructions that can chanel our lives towards a perfect ending and also for us to maintain an unbroken relationship with Him. 

His instructions are given from time to time as we live our life, though these instructions may not be palatable to us, it may looks difficult to comprehend, but if we humbly accept them and act accordingly as He has directed, there are blessings that follow.  

Genesis  6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Noah found grace in the sight of God, not just on a platter of gold but because he was able to stand in righteousness and holiness despite so many wickedness that abound in his generation. He walked inline with the the laws and commandment of his great grandfather Enoch, so he departed not.. His reward from God was to be the only family to be spared during the destruction of the whole world.   It wasn't easy for him to stand alone in the whole world then, he was disgraced, ridiculed and called all sort of names, but it payed off after the flood. 

Abraham was blessed by God because of his selfless and unimaginable obedience to God's word 

Genesis  22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:  22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;  22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Many people claim father Abraham's blessing today  because he was divinely blessed by God, but we do not fully understand how well he was able to obey God in his life time. 

Firstly, he was told to leave his parent, heritage, inheritance, home, his job and country to a place yet to be known, this must have been the most stupid thing any man can ever do in this present age, listening to the voice of someone you have never seen.  Yet, he obliged and went out. 

His first obedience should have been able to remove every obstacles that my come his way, but it isn't so, he still have to wait for almost twenty five years before having isaac... Imagine the pain, the reproach, what people would have said, imagine the thoughts that will ring in his mind... Yet this same child God asked him to sacrifice to Him...  Imagine the pain he has gone through... The pain of motherhood made Sarah to die before the return of Abraham and isaac from the sacrifice. 

Without a doubt, Abraham took isaac and determine to sacrifice him to the God he has never seen. What an act of deep obedience to God.  HIS ACT OF OBEDIENCE BROUGHT ABOUT THE BLESSINGS WE PRAY FOR TODAY. 

There is a reward God gives to anyone who faithfully and loving obey His instructions no matter how difficult it may be. 

What instructions has the Lord given you, but seems too difficult too obey?, sometimes it  looks stupid and out of sense... 

God is not an usurper who will not repay you for your act of faithful obedience to His words and commands. 

Deuteronomy  4:40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. 

This is the command of God for anyone who desires to enjoy the fullness of God's blessings... 

You can't fully enjoy His numerous blessing of you can't fully obey His many commands.

Obedience is better than fasting and prayer, to obey simple instructions is better than asking for mercy latter. 

Choose to obey God now and enjoy the rewards latter. It may be difficult, it may be painful, it may looks stupid, but it is the best way to walk with God.
