Excuse; Enemy of Progress
John 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables
An excuse in this discus is a "reason or explanation given to justify a fault or offence", right from the garden or Eden, man has been giving different excuses for doing the wrong things or for not doing what ought to be done, and this has stall our progress in life and also in God.
The quest for excellence can never be won if excuses are given, so also anyone who would diligently follow Christ and work with God must never have an excuse.
John 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables
Jesus Christ desiring to worship in the temple realised the temple had been turned to a marker place, what excuse could the pharisees and the scribes who uphold the laws of moses so well give, to have allowed such menace to to occur in the house of God?... Apparently no excuse... So Jesus Christ drove them out and made a cleansing of the temple for proper worship and service to God. There is no excuse for not doing the right thing.
Naaman wanted to be healed of his leprosy, but he desired to give God the method through Which he should be healed. Contrary to the directive of the prophet of God Elisha that he should bath in the Jordan River Seven times, he suggested better rivers, that are very clean and good to behold.
2 Kings 5:10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 5:11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 5:12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
Just like many of us do today, because of the nature and look of the instructions God is giving, we rather choose to formulate our own plan... Naaman was blessed with good advisers who encouraged him to heed to the prophet else, he would have remain a leper for the rest of his life.
V 5:13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 5:14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
Jesus's mother charged the disciples of Christ at the wedding in cana of galilee the importance of obeying the words of God. She encourages them never to be bothered by whatever nature His instruction will be.
John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
Whatever instruction or direction God is giving you today, or which of His will he wants you to follow, you have no excuse to reject it, else you are delaying your progress in life and in God.
Maybe God asked you to preach to people in whichever way you can, you have no excuse.
Maybe God wants you go on journey, you have no excuse.
Maybe God wants you to use your resources for His work, you have no excuse not to.
Above all, you have no excuse to sin or to reject the salvation God gave through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The instructions of God is not open for your modification, you do yourself good fulfilling them without giving excuses, else, you are delaying your progress
An excuse is never an excuse before God.
God bless you
