Not for Sale
Acts 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 8:19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
The apostles had freely received the miraculous power from Jesus Christ. They are to freely give to others. In this case, therefore, they were freely giving the miraculous gift to all in the Church.
As Christ sent Apostles , they came to Samaria for this very reason. This was one of the works that God had given them to do. Simon recognized that it was only through the apostles that the miraculous gift of the Holy Spirit were given.
Because of Simon's unconverted thirst for position and power among the people, he asked to buy this ability. He wanted this gift so that he could impart the gift of the Holy Spirit to others. He sought with money to purchase and control the work of God in order to retain his position among the people.
Peter condemned simon for his belief that he could buy the gift of the Holy Spirit with money.
Acts8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
God's work cannot be bought. If Simon persisted in his evil motives and scheme, he would be condemned. Peter knew the motives of simon and he was condemned for it.
Just like many today who sought for the gift of God in order to work out miracles, signs and wonders just like the Christ sent apostles does... And if they could not get it, They resorted to the gift of the evil spirit which is limited and its end is hell.
Many other ministers of God places a price tag on their ministrations before they could deliver the message of God to people, these are the likes of Simon who intended to use the gift of God for personal interest and self exultation, forgetting that the gift of God was given freely and it must be administered freely.
Some receive money before they preach, some before they could minister as a Gospel artist and others before they could reveal the visions they saw. All these acts angers God and will lead such vessels to hell at the end of the day.
Jesus Christ specifically warns the twelve disciples when He was sending them to the field to preach the Good news never to put a price on the gift they had received...
Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Today, have you not placed a price on the gift God has given you?, are you not selling His gift in your life in order to make riches and wealth?
The gift of God is never for sale, freely it was given, and freely it must be delivered to people whom God has sent you to.
You must recognise yourself as someone who had received grace from God to be among the vessel God has given His gift... And not by your work.
Whatever gift God has given you, use it to the glory of God, He that has called you know how to bless you in return as you freely deliver with your gift.
Stop selling the gift of God, else you have received your eternal reward already.
Repent today, tomorrow may be too late.
God bless you.
