Something's or someone's reputation is the opinion that people have about how good they are. If they have a good reputation, people think they are good
As a believer in Christ and as humans we should always care and watch the kind of reputation we are building, as it will definitely reflect on the generations to come after us
Everything you are doing has a record in the heart of many and in the presence of God weather you do good or bad.. This will inturn be an influence to how people will relate with your coming generation either goodly or badly.
Exodus 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
When moses was chosen by God to lead the children of Israel out of the land of slavery, God affirms the name of his forefathers to him, In persons of Abraham, isaac and Jacob. This is because they built a good reputation with God in faith, their relationship with God was never broken.
Even if the children of Israel go astray and they prayed to God through the names of their forefathers for God to remember the covenant He made with them, God will answer their prayers... This is possible because Abraham, Isaac and Jacob built a good reputation with God and men and it serves as a saving grace for their generations to come.
Genesis 49:3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
Reuben was the firstborn of Jacob, he was suppose to carry on with the legacy of his father, but by making a great mistake in sleeping with his father's concubine gave him and his generations a bad reputation. He was cursed by his father, and this curse extends to all his generations coming after him.
Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him with a precious ointment to anoint His leg, and her act of honour to the Lord gave her a good reputation and her story was never forgotten.
What reputation are you building for yourself and generation that will come after you?
You are well known for wickedness, terror, hatred and all sort of evil, the repercussion of your deeds will surely pay off on your children and children's children.
Care about your reputation today so as to have a name to leave behind for the coming generation. It can either save them from trouble or put them into unimaginable trouble.
