Beware of Wrath

Ecclesiastes  7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Wrath is an expression of extreme anger over something when one is offended, it is the peak of anger which corms with dangerous moves either by words or by actions, it is the manifestation of a spirit that is yet to be brought under control by self-discipline.

Wrath is a sinful act before God which attracts punishments on whom who expressed it.

Wrath put an end to the journey of Moses towards the promise land. As patient and full of long-suffering as Moses was, His anger developed to wrath and it brought regrettable consequences upon him..

He had been chosen by God to lead the children of Israel from Egypt to the promise land. On several occasions the children of Israel provoked Moses and God to anger, but on same occasions moses overlooked and plead to God on their behalf.

On getting to the dessert of zin there was no water for them to drink, so the people murmured to moses and against God, their act made God to give moses an instruction on how water will be provided miraculously. But being unable to curtain his anger, moses spoke ashly against the people, and act angrily towards the commands of God contrary to the instruction given.

Numbers  20:7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,  20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.  20:9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.  20:10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?  20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

For such show of extreme anger, the Lord stopped him from progressing to the promise land despite his fervent devotion to God.  Secondly, a replacement was chosen immediately.
20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

The consequences of expressing wrath is great, either you express it by words or by action, it always attract God's anger and punishment.

James  1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:  1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The key to maintaining and growing in the godly life is to control one's mouth, and the manner by which one speaks. The person that is wise and grows in knowledge is the one who listens more than he speaks. Wisdom is manifested in how much one listens not in how much one speaks.

There can be channels by which we will be provoked to extreme anger, but as a child of God, we should always caution because whatsoever we say angrily has consequences both physically and spiritually over our life and the life of whom we are angry at.

Sometimes being wrath comes when you have just finished praying or fasting to God and you are expectant of some blessings, devil will bring some temptations in other to provoke you to anger in a bid for you to loose your blessings that is coming on the way.

Be wise in God. Don't let your anger lead you to sin,... It is good to be angry, but when it develops to wrath, it becomes a deadly weapon that fights against its owner.

Ecclesiastes  7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
Don't be hasty to act against a provoking situation, it will be foolish to dance to the tone of anger.

Beware of wrath in everything you do and in every day you live.

God bless you.
