A little Doubt
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Living a life of total dependant on God sometimes doesn't come easy, at a point when you reach a crossed road you begin to doubt the true power and existence of God. Not because you do not have faith in Him but the present situation has overwhelmed you to the point of loosing it.
I know many of us has been in that situation, broken and down, rejected and forsaken, a time of no hope, a time fear troubled the heart because of the impending shame, yet our faith must stand strong because a little doubt can make us miss the redemption of God for our lives.
There was a scenario of such in the scripture, a siege rose against the city of Israel by the Syrians, thus there was blockage of food supply and inflation sets in. But the lord spoke through His servant Elisha that in less than twenty-four hours there will be massive surplus.
2 Kings 7:1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
But an officer who is an economist, a statistician and a professor who always deals with facts challenged the man of God, that going by the laws of demand and supply, it is impossible for his words to come to pass in such a little time frame.
V. 7:2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
No one should have blamed the officer for voicing out his opinion due to the facts and figures, and research he has made by his human thinking. But that singular act of a little doubt made him to witness the surplus the second day but was not a partaker of it.
This is exactly what many do today whenever God gives promises, prophesies and words of hope for our life. In our little doubt, we try to formulate how possible it is for such to happen, yet we forgot to realise that God is a God of wonders who can never be stoped by any factor of this world.
Also when Peter walked on water. He had first requested the permission from Christ to come over to him, he did walk on water, but suddenly when his eyes got away from Christ, he began to sink, but thankfully Jesus Christ stretched forth His hand to hold him. Matthew 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Many of us are like Peter today, we trust God, believe in Him and we do follow all His commands, but when a little storm of life comes upon us, we begin to doubt the power of Jehovah, and at that point, we took our attention away from God and focus on our problem. And we knew not that the more we focus on our problem, the more we sink into it.
That little doubt of God's salvation, redemption or provision can make you to sink further in your problems if you fail to redirect your attention back to God the solution to all problems.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Trust God with the whole of your heart, allow him to direct you in all you do, even if it doesn't make sense according to the human understanding, still believe, because therein is your salvation.
A little doubt is enough to miss the goodness and the salvation of God, do not accommodate it.
God bless you.
