Fear of the Future

Proverbs  27:1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. One of the enemy that fight against man's existence is the fear of the unknown, the fear of the future is to be filled with the anxiety of possible future occurrence or events. This has put many into dangerous decision making while projecting what the future will look like even when many knows they will not live up to that future  As a believer, we should never be consumed with the anxiety of what tomorrow will bring, God gave the assurance of his dive in providence and safety of tomorrow because He is already there.  Proverbs  27:1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. God made man   and thus social structures for man are best determined by God, the verse above explained God's instruction for those who would live in peace with one another in any society be sue there is no guarantee that tomorrow may come. One should fully appreciate eat day

Warning against Enticement

Proverbs  1:10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. As a believer in Christ, we have a new identity, a new nature and a new association which distinct us from the forms and patterns of this world. This implies that we cannot do what the world is doing, and we cannot be yoked with the things of this world, our living is Christ centred and heavenly focused. Seeing that we have been redeemed from the corruptible nature of this world, satan do bring enticement to us which is capable to draw us back to the World of sin and rob us off our place in God. He does this by enticing us with the pleasures of this world, the pride of life and the lust of the flesh. Once any believer yield to this, he/she automatically becomes a slave to sin and a candidate of  hell. Eve was the first human to be enticed, satan cannot forcefully bring man into sin, but has the power to entice man to sin by bringing temptations which are contrary to the ordinances of God. He brought her to the forbid

Reflect the Light

Ephesians  5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: After the fall of man, darkness filled the earth, the light of God's  righteousness and holiness became  darkened by the deceit of satan, and man began to walk and live in the darkness of evil thoughts and imagination.  In other to bring man back to track and walk in the light of Jehovah, God made a provision for His light to dwell with men, that by this man can live in the light of God's grace, righteousness and holiness.  John  8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Jesus Christ is the one who has come to enlightened the world concerning salvation so we do not walk in the darkness of death. He is the one through whom the abundant life can be attained, and through whom one can find his way back to God.  By obedience to the teachings of Christ, one can t

Bribery is a Sin

Ecclesiastes 7:7 Surely oppression destroys a wise man’s reason, And a bribe debases the heart. Bribery is the making of illegal payment, or bribes, to persons in official positions as a means of influencing their decisions Bribery is an act of untruthfulness, a means to cut conners instead of following due process.  People pay bribe in other to extort another person's justifiable right, while many others pay bribe to distorts judgment, both the person that  pays and the person that collect bride are sinners before God..  Deuteronomy 27:25 [25]‘Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ God specifically gave laws to His people after the Exodus from slavery, this is to guide them towards good living as they coexist among eachother. One of these laws is that "cursed is the one who takes bride to slay an innocent person".  This kind of crime is gradually growing among people today, people takes money to murder anot

Why should you die?

Proverbs  14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Death is inevitable to every man on earth, our life is limited to some certain time frame, and when one clocks or exhaust his/time, death comes.  As much as we understand the natural death that become the end of everyone, there is still another death, which comes after and this will last till eternity. This is the second death.  Why should you die the second time when life is presented to you freely without cost? Why should you follow the path that leads to destruction when you can choose the one that leads to eternal life?. Proverbs  14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. The self-centered nature of man leads him to believe that he can establish his own moral standards. But the standards he establishes will lead him to destruction. Only God's moral standards will lead one to life.  Another way to choose death is to be ob

Care about Reputation

Ecclesiastes  7:1 A good name is better than precious ointment;...  Reputation is the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something. To have a reputation for something means to be known or remembered for it. ... Something's or someone's reputation is the opinion that people have about how good they are. If they have a good reputation, people think they are good As a believer in Christ and as humans we should always care and watch the kind of reputation we are building, as it will definitely reflect on the generations to come after us  Everything you are doing has a record in the heart of many and in the presence of God  weather you do good or bad.. This will inturn be an influence to how people will relate with your coming generation either goodly or badly.  Exodus  3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me

More than Gold

Psalms  19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Gold is a precious metal which is used in making jewelleries, it has value which it's collections can make one rich. Many has laboured all their life to have it, many kill because of it, it serves as a means of living to many because it is exchangeable for any currency. As precious and valuable as it is, there are still many more things that are better, more  precious, and more valuable to have than gold. 1. The fear of the LORD Psalms  19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Fearing the Lord means to be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him compl

Beware of Wrath

Ecclesiastes  7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. Wrath is an expression of extreme anger over something when one is offended, it is the peak of anger which corms with dangerous moves either by words or by actions, it is the manifestation of a spirit that is yet to be brought under control by self-discipline.  Wrath is a sinful act before God which attracts punishments on whom who expressed it.  Wrath put an end to the journey of Moses towards the promise land. As patient and full of long-suffering as Moses was, His anger developed to wrath and it brought regrettable consequences upon him..  He had been chosen by God to lead the children of Israel from Egypt to the promise land. On several occasions the children of Israel provoked Moses and God to anger, but on same occasions moses overlooked and plead to God on their behalf.  On getting to the dessert of zin there was no water for them to drink, so the people murmured to moses and again

Stop tempting God.

Luke  4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Tempting God is an attempt to put to the test or make trial of one or more of God's attributes, such as His knowledge, will, power, or wisdom. This testing of God can be made by word, deed, or omission. It is formal when one says or does something with the express or explicit intention of putting God on trial.  Tempting God is a sin before Him, because it is an insult to God to question His attributes and to challenge Him to manifest them.  God had brought children of Israel out of slavery of more than four hundred years,  with a mighty hand and show of wonder God brought them to the wilderness of paran.  He commanded moses to send spies to the land of Canaan to spy it, but the evil report brought by the ten melted the heart of the whole congregation of Israel in fear, and they murmured against God and tempted God. This they do to challenge the power and authority of God even after seei

Unhealthy Zeal

Leviticus  10:1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. Zeal is the great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective, an unhealthy Zeal is the great energy in pursuit of a wrong purpose  It is good to have Zeal but if it is for a wrong purpose it becomes an unhealthy Zeal. Many believer today exhibit unhealthy Zeal in several ways and thought it is for a good purpose, this has caused  so much avork in our lives today  both phicially and spiritually.  Uzzah in the  scriptures displayed an unhealthy Zeal which he thought was for a good purpose. It was time for the ark of covenant to be restored to Israel,  king David made the move to covey the ark, all instruction of God was followed, but at a point  the ark of covenant was about to fell of the oxen, so Uzzar reached  his hand out to save it in a bid to save them from incurr

Don't despise little beginning

Zechariah  4:10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. A little understanding of history reveals that the  armies of Nebuchadnezzar captured jerusalem   In 586 b.c. Most of Jerusalem’s inhabitants were deported to Babylon for a period of about 70 years, as prophesied by Jeremiah. When the Babylonian Empire fell to the Persian Empire (539 b.c.), Cyrus the Great decreed that the Jews could return to Jerusalem to rebuild their temple. A small minority of about 50,000 Jews… returned under the leadership of Zerubbabel the governor and Joshua the high priest. External oppression and internal depression halted the rebuilding of the temple for about 16 more years of spiritual apathy till the rule of the Persian King Darius.  In the second year of Darius’s reign, God raised up Haggai the prophet to encourage the Jew

Living Dead

Revelation 3:1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Have you heard about the stories of zombies, the stories about the dead reincarnating in some other places and still continue to live?, well I have heard so many even when most are not true, in fact none is true... But today I can boldly confirm to you that there are many zombies(living dead) walking around us... You never can tell, you might even be one..  Many see themselves to be alive, but the truth is they are dead, one can physically and mortally be alive, but spiritually dead.  Revelation 3:1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. The church in Sadies was well known, they are famous for their vigorous p

Excuse; Enemy of Progress

John  2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables An excuse in this discus is a "reason or explanation given to justify a fault or offence", right from the garden or Eden, man has been giving different excuses for doing the wrong things or for not doing what ought to be done, and this has stall our progress in life and also in God.  The quest for excellence can never be won if excuses are given, so also anyone who would diligently follow Christ and work with God must never have an excuse.  John  2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables Jesus Christ desiring to worship in the temple realised the temple had been turned to a marker place, what excuse could the pharisees and the scribes who uphold the la

Rejoice not in the downfall of other

Proverbs  24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Taking delight and pleasure, even rejoicing over someone else’s hardship, misery or disappointments is exhibiting a self-righteous attitude, it  is a close companion of Pride; which is one of the seven deadly sins the Lord hates. So, do not take satisfaction in the shortcomings of others. There, but for the grace of God, could be each one of us in that difficult situation. A person should not rejoice in the calamity of any person, God may lift up the unfortunate over whom one rejoices in order to rebuke the person who has rejoiced over the misfortune of another.  We are all equal before God, no matter our indifferences in this world, His grace extends to all through Christ Jesus. He exceptionally make His love available without segregating anyone.  There are times those we look unto with high esteem will fall into temptations, we should not as believer rejoice in their downfall rath

God's Enemy

James  4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. God has enemies, His enemies are anyone who refuses to bow to his authority. He is the creator of all things, and every thing He crated must be subject to His commands.  Satan was the first enemy of God, who thought withing himself to raise his throne above that of God, but he was condemned to hell. As satan becomes God's enemy so also  is anyone who walks  inline with the works evil.  John  8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. The first characteristic of an enemy of God is for anyone to love the world, the world has been corrupted by sin, and the pleasure of it leads to hell.  If

The Patient Dog

Ecclesiastes  7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. We have all heard the adage or proverb that a patient dog eats the fattest bone. In other words, you have to be very patient in everything you do. Do not be quick to anger, do not take shortcut to success, do not rush in making decisions . This also is consciously applicable to anyone that will walk with God in faith and hope,  God's way is never our way, and his timing  is different from our time zone, so the need to be patient in all our relationship with Him... It may look like He's taking too long to answer some of our request, or He's keeping us too long in the waiting room, yet we must be very patient so as to eat the fattest bone of His blessings and greatness He has prepared for us. Romans  12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Believers have every reason to rejoice in hope while we trus

Not by Quantity but it's Quality

2 Corinthians  9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.  9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.  Our acceptability before God is not defined by the quantity of time, worship, service, offerings or sacrifices we offer to God, but the guilty of what we offer.  It is not the quantity of our faith that matters but the quality of faith that matters before God.  Many believers has lived a life of  self appreciation and self satisfaction of their works and services to God.  Many appreciates the quantities of things done in the house of God or for God rather than the quality of it.  Such like the numbers of fasting days rather than the time when their heart is actually connected in the spirit during fasting... Many boast of how much they brought to the house of God, rather than the motive behind thier givi

Warning against Bad Company

2 Corinthians  6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus gives us a new citizenship which is of  righteousness and holiness, by this we also have new family and association... Our believe in Christ will not just affect our life and soul, but also must reflect on those we keep as friends and associates.  2 Corinthians  5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Our new believe in Christ should be able to shake off every old habit of sin, wicked and evil friends, associations that do not glorify and honour God. This is because their evil character and behaviour is contagious to our righteous relationship with Christ Jesus.  1 Corinthians  15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. There is Deception in the heart of many on the

The Danger of Pride

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom  Pride is the feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated. having or showing a high or excessively high opinion of oneself or one's importance. pride is putting oneself in the place of God. it is a refusal to depend on God, but to instead depend on oneself and try to be self-sufficient.  it is well also a refusal to give him the glory he is due, but to instead seek the glory for oneself It is seeing oneself better than the other, having more quality than anyone else and seeks to be honoured more than anyone  The danger of living in pride  1. Pride is Deceptive  Devil is the originator of pride, he was the first person to be proud, he purposed it in his heart, but was disgraced afterwards, he thought he could achieve his desire by raising his throne above that of God,  Isaiah  14:12 H

Fruit of Selfishness

Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. The Humbled and Exalted Christ Selfishness is the quality or state of being selfish, it's the lack of consideration for other people. A selfish man will only think of himself alone without. It is the lack of empathy over others. Selfishness is seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others. It  is putting one's goals, priorities and needs before everyone else even those who are really in need. A very keen example of a selfish man is recorded in the book of  1kingss 21:1-19 1 Kings  21:1 And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.  21:2 And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me th

Reward of Obedience

1 Samuel  15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. Obedience to God is to hear, trust, submit and surrender to God and His word.  God created us and places us into this world, everything we would  ever be or become is perfectly known to Him, He knows our end from the begining so He give instructions that can chanel our lives towards a perfect ending and also for us to maintain an unbroken relationship with Him.  His instructions are given from time to time as we live our life, though these instructions may not be palatable to us, it may looks difficult to comprehend, but if we humbly accept them and act accordingly as He has directed, there are blessings that follow.   Genesis  6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Noah found grace in the sight of God, not just on a platter of gold but because he was able to stan

The Sufficiency of God 2

The Great Provider  Philippians  4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Yesterday we began a series titled THE SUFFICIENCY GOD,  and we are made to understand that Our God is the source of all our dependency in this world, He has enough or more than enough to meet any need we have and the key to receiving this abundance from Him is to have unfailing faith in Him..  Today the Lord will be taking us through another aspect of His sufficiency which is being our great provider. God so much loved man that even before he was created everything man will ever need has already been provided for Him. The earth, the sunrise and sunset, food, a beautiful garden, and even a helpmeet that will be his perfect companion.  Everything we would ever need in this world can be provided by God because He is the source of all things, talk of riches, honour, wealth, wisdom, knowledge and understanding, power etc.  1 Chronicles  29:12 Both riches and honour

The Sufficiency of God 1

Lord the Healer  Psalms  147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. The sufficiency of the All Sufficient God is the adequacy of the provisions of the Lord God Almighty that can never be exhausted ...  Our God is the source of all our dependency in this world, He has enough or more than enough to meet any need we have. We have to believe that he wants our needs to be met, we have to be a consistent person to be ... Out of His sufficiency is the divine power of our total healing. After sin was introduced into the world, so also diseases, sickness, viruses and all other forms of infirmities that fight against our body because of our nature of sin both spiritually and physically. Yet in this, God becomes our sufficient healer in all areas of life.  God always rise to the help of man whenever diseases and life threatening sicknesses befall man. He gave his words of assurance to the children of Israel during their Exodus from Egypt. God has foresee all what they will
